THE HIGHWAY OF LIFE
Make a board game which resembles a "highway" (road). The highway
is Leigh Botts' life. It should be divided into different squares like
a Snakes and Ladders board. Some of the squares will contain happy
events, others will be disappointing. For example, one square might
state: Someone has stolen your lunch bag. Go back 2 squares.
Another might state: Dad phoned. Go forward 3 squares.
Use events from the novel to write your directions. However, near the
end of the "highway" you can use your imagination to decide what might
happen to Leigh after the book finishes. For example, you could write:
Your
first novel is published. Go forward 5 spaces. OR You get
a degree in Electronic Engineering. Go forward 4 spaces.
Decorate your game with drawings (e.g. trucks, motels, grain silos,
road signs etc.) and attractive colours. Stick it onto card.
TIP: Plan your game on some rough paper before you try to do the final
version.
