Before you begin: Check the questions. Are they mostly in the Present or Past tense? Use the same tense in your answers!
Where in the old church did Ponyboy sleep? Why did he panic when he woke up? How did he feel as he sat behind the church, remembering the events of the day before? How did the two boys disguise themselves? What evidence shows that Ponyboy and Johnny were not tough, insensitive criminals? What do you think the poem on page 59 means? What two things did Sodapop send to Ponyboy? How did the Socs react to the death of Bob Sheldon? There are lots of adverbs in this chapter to describe people’s actions or speech:
