Singapore Waste Project

  1. After doing your research and sharing your notes with classmates, you will need to write a report. In other words, you will need to organise your notes into categories and turn them into sentences and paragraphs.

Your report must be wordprocessed on a computer. It should contain the following:

    1. A cover sheet with the title Waste Creation and Disposal in Singapore and your name & tutor group. Your cover sheet may be decorated with clipart, drawings or graphic design, but the title and your name should stand out clearly. In the bottom right-hand corner of the cover sheet, you should state the number of words your report contains (do not count the cover or Contents pages).
    2. A Contents page. This should list the different sections of your report and the relevant page numbers. There should be a separate section of the Contents page for tables/graphs/diagrams and these should be numbered Table 1, Table 2 and so on.
    3. Two main sections: Waste Creation in Singapore and Waste Disposal in Singapore. Each of these sections should have suitable sub-sections such as "Types and Quantity of Waste", "A Comparison Between Singapore and Other Countries", "Waste Disposal", and "Reusing and Recycling". (Discuss these with your teacher if you have any doubts.) Your longest section will be the second one.
    4. Your two main sections may contain some tables, diagrams or graphs. You should only use these if they are relevant – e.g. percentages of different types of waste or quantity of waste produced in different years, or a flow-chart demonstrating how waste is incinerated.
    5. A Personal Action section: Now that you know about the growing mountain of waste in Singapore and the need for all of us to reduce, re-use and recycle, what are you going to do about it? Explain what you have learned from doing this project and how you plan to change the way you live. Will you try to change your family’s behaviour in any way? What is UWCSEA doing, what should they be doing?

Please do not use an unusual font. Choose a simple, clear font such as Times New Roman, Arial, Comic Sans or Courier.

Your word count should be between 800 and 1,600 words.
