Those of you who have shown an aptitude for languages now have the opportunity to learn a new European language- German.
THE COURSE
The course you will be using is called “Lernpunkt Deutsch”.It is an excellent introductory course in German. During lessons you will have access to your own copy of the text book and all of the support materials. You will be issued with an exercise book. The department has a limited supply of German-English dictionaries for use within the classroom. The purchase of a small, inexpensive dictionary for use at home and in lessons would be desirable but is not essential (we would recommend the Collins Gem dictionary).
LESSONS and HOMEWORK
You will receive one hour of German per week. Homework will be set once a week. At the beginning of the course, home works will be quite short, but will become more difficult with time. You might be asked to complete a written exercise or to learn a section of work. You will be expected to submit your homework on time and must ensure that all of your work is fully completed. If you are experiencing problems with the work, or do not understand it, you must speak to your teacher about it before the deadline. Failure to complete homework will result in a detention.
MARKING SCHEME
You will receive grades for class work and homework and your teacher will write a comment in German.
