What  Ashag  thinks  about  C. D.  ...

    When I had seen CD at school, little had I realized that he would be the one would stay with me for so long a time and be my room mate for three years at IIT Kanpur. CD was and is one of the very special species of a person and that is why I can never forget him.

    A typical nawab in the first year, it was beyond his capability, capacity and dignity to even think about drinking, smoking and abusing. He used to always come to me and say - "I always thought that IIT Kanpur people are a class apart, a dignified class of people. I am shocked to see this. Khaskar, agar mera bas chale to in sab sch... ko to main ......". CD has always been like that - a typical "frustrated with the system" guy. I am sure that agar inka bas chalta to India mein shayad hi koi bachta. That is what has always motivated him to flee away from all the miseries of life, all frustration, all miseries of the system, all crap at India and go to his dreamland - US. And motivation, you call that motivation? I would call that obsession. (Sorry CD!!) But from his ways in the first two years, I was frightened like anything. I could hardly understand how one could work so hard and have so many nightouts in a row!!!

    What frightened me more was CD himself. Could there be something more frightening that a sleeping CD. My GOD!!!! I could never guess correctly whether he was sleeping or awake when he used to suddenly get up during his sleeps, half tilted, death in his eyes, staring at me or in mid air and shouting all kind of abuses and apparently sometimes having a heated argument with someone and sometimes murdering someone !!! Sometimes I even got up from my sleep when he was in such kind of a state. The whole wing feared to enter the room when CD was sleeping and from that one can guess how bahadur I am. I am sure that this has allowed me to appreciate ghost stories better and given me courage to face the devil himself....... just joking!!!


    And then there is a CD of now - "No masti in the wing, without CD Singh". Any guesses, any doubts about the CD of today? Well meet him and it would be easy to find out. CD claims that he is now the happiest man on earth and I am happy to learn that.

    One would expect me to divulge some secrets about CD. However I am sure that if he hasn't told his 'secrets' to half of IITK saying '.....I am telling this to you only. Dont tell anybody......' then it must be too secret to be divulged. Be it his love affairs(??), his fantasies, his Madhuri, his future plans, his plans of revenge, plans of getting his love, and so on. CD always starts off in great fluency explaining his thoughts and perceptions. Aur kyon na ho - isi capability ki wajah se inhonay kai logon ka ch... kata hai... be it even his profs....
Kitni hi treat promise kar ke na janay kya kya kara dala. Aaj tak ek bhi nahin mili..... This is a warning to the readers, never do anything for CD once he promises you a treat........


    Having said all this about CD, I would like to say that in spite of all this, he is somewhat a gentleman. A true Rajput spirited, and very gharelu especially while interacting with parents and elders. He acts somewhat maturely in most such matters. Also given his great motivation and devotion towards his career, I am sure that one day he is sure to achieve great heights of success and fame. Wish him all the best for his future, career and for getting a good understanding and beautiful spouse.
