                       n_sl :     no. of hours of sleep

PROOF: By Law of Conservation of Time:

          n_d = n_sl + n_st + n₀                eqⁿ (1)

          where,

                   n₀ :     no. of hours spent in other activities

          But there exists ∈> 0                s. t.    |n₀| < ∈

          where ∈can be made arbitrarily small.

COROLLARY:        n_st > n_d/2

PROOF: We know that,

                   n_st > n_sl

          Adding n_st both sides:

                   2n_st > n_sl + n_st
