The Hanging Tree Investagation & Story by: Freak_O_Pedia |
Awhile back I was told about a supposed local haunting. I place located off a hourse trail way back in the forest. Now days this place is used for a swimming hole but back in the early 80's a unknown man was found hung from the tree. Since then the ghost of this man has been seen hanging from the tree. |
----------------------------------> With my video camera rolling map in hand I set off on the trail that would hopefully lead me to the hanging tree. <--------------------------------- The trail went up and down hills through the forest leading down to a small river. |
Once I reach the river I realised that the trail contenued through the river. That ment I had to find away across. |
I followed the river down a little ways and fortuntly for me I found an old fallen log which enabled me to cross. Then I made my way back along the river to the trail. |
I contenued my trek following the hourse trail deeper into the woods. I got to tell you I don't scare easy but going this far back into the woods with no one else but you does give you the creeps and goosebumps. Finally the trail turned again and headed back down twords the river. |
At last back to the river and from my map that was drawn out for me by one of the people whos see the ghost, ment I'm nearly to the Hanging Tree. |
Upon examination of the area I noticed no other vegitation grew around the tree. The only thing upon the ground was a collection of beer bottles and cans. Infact I found a half case of beer still sitting there. I looked around yet I didn't see or hear others anywhere around. So I'm thinking something made, who ever had this beer, drop it and run. The senario that comes to mind is a bunch of guys partying and drinking around a secluded swimming hole. Then something scared them, maybe the ghost, and they |
With that on my mind I finally cam upon a clearing and there it was the Hanging Tree. Several old ropes hung from the tree as signs if rope swings and maybe more. |

To actually get to the tree I had to cross along the some horribly angled rocks in the water. Like at tight rope walker I balanced my equipment and self across the rocks to get a closer look at the tree. |

took off as fast as they could, leaving half empty bottles of beer and the rest of the full ones behind. Could this be what happened? Who knows unless one of them contact me them self. However for me the trip seemed to be a bust. I didn't see anything happening, no ghost, no people, no nothing. So as the sun was going down I decided I better head back before it got to dark and I'd get lost. Maybe next time I'll bring others and stay later. |

Following the embankment along the river I began to realize how truely alone I was back here in the woods. If something was to happen to me no one would of known. |
