Fear & Misery in Seattle
Submitted By: Mimi - aka Sasquatch
There was a story Derek wrote about last year. It's about how he heard about some "thing" in Seattle. Since I can't get the original story (been out of tounch for awhile), I'll have to go by memory. He had been contacted by someone about the "underground" (?) <go under>  that has nothing to do with the Underground tour. He eventually ended up in a cooler/meat locker in an Asian grocery store in downtown Seattle, listening to something in there with him for several hours. I remember that shop. I've lived here in Seattle for over 20 years, & I ride the buses everywhere. I work in downtown, or catch the buses there, so I'm very familiar with how the city has changed. Anyway, when I saw the picture of the storefront on the site, it sent chills down my back. That was a place even the most down-n-out street peple avaioded. Some of them, Nativie Americans, had "devil names" for that place that they would not say , for fear of being hunted down. For the last couple of years before the store was cleaned out overnight - no notice of going out of business - there had been mentions in the neighborhood weekly newpapers of expensive briefcases being found. Cracked open from the back, with wicked slash/gashes all over them. Then there were the expensive raincoats, overcoats, REI jackets, Levi jackets, even jacket from some of the street people that were found shredded. Even disappearances of the local street people. there was never any mention as to whether the police were following it up, (I can see why with the street people, they're considered -unfortunately- expendable). the stories stopped as soon as the store "closed". Now, I tried to look into the archives of the local paper, & the big city paper, but nobody had any story that I had read. I know I wasn't imagining all this. I woud talk about it with some people at the bus & they remember reading the same artical. I'm sorry I can't be more specific, along with some pictures, or actual articals. Just some wierdness in the papers in that specific area along with the street people stories about that store.
Just a few notes: I received an email from Mimi asking if I wanted some more info on the Seattle thing dealing with Derek. Well being an interested freaker I said yes and this was what was sent back to me. I don't know how much is true or not but could make you think about areas in your own town that has a place or area like this.
