Philip Sallon Summer Dream

Philip Sallon had been planning fame since birth. Everyone else was making it in showbiz so he formed his own group the Mud Men and began secretly writing songs. EMI records signed Philip to a one-off singles deal in the hope that he would become the next chart-topping English eccentric.  I was pleased for him and relished the idea of Philip Sallon on Top of the Pops. For moral support I accompanied him to a meeting in the press office at EMI in Manchester Square.  It was amusing to listen to Philip's ideas as his press officer tore her hair out.  He wanted to drive down Oxford Street on a float miming to his song "Sumer Dreams" and present rubber plants to all the DJ's at Radio One.                                                                                                                                                           Boy George - Take It Like A Man
