Kiseralik River, above Kwethluk, Alaska
On or about 6 July 1999, A woman, her husband, his father and two friends were on the Kiseralik River above Kwethluk, Alaska. They observed and photographed a pair of large wedge-shaped footprints deep in the mud near the water's edge. The prints are an estimated 12 to 14 inches long and were about 3 inches deep. No claws are evident at the tips of the toes. The prints appeared to be consecutive and were estimated at about 6 ft apart. The friends were experienced outdoorsmen and neither one of them could identify the animal that made these marks. During this same time brown bear and wolf tracks were also observed. The area is very remote and no other boats were on the river that day.
The local trappers that have looked at the footprint photos say it's the Hairy man. The tracks are difficult to distinguish in the photos and they look bigger than 14 inches. see the photos at http://oocities.com/Yosemite/Campground/8945/page3.html
Manitou Springs, Colorado, 1999
"This is the first and only sign of its type in the state of Colorado that I know of. At first I believed it was a joke put up by park officials for tourist interest. However after talking to a few rangers, I found that the sign is totally serious. This sign is posted along the Pikes Peak Parkway a few miles above Manitou Springs Colorado. Due to numerous sighting reports to park officials by tourists at this point over a three year period, and pressure from visitors concerned with safety, the State of Colorado bowed to demands of local citizenry and put up the sign. Also at various points along this highway are signs identifying different wildlife that can be seen during the drive to the top of Pikes Peak, including Mountain Lion and Black Bear Warning signs to hikers. The Colorado Park officials agreed that sightings of this "Bigfoot Type" creature is not rare but do not wish to advertise the fact, believing Colorado should not be caught up in what they call the Bigfoot Craze. As far as the park service is concerned, "There is no such thing as Bigfoot and if there is, they certainly do not inhabit Colorado park lands." When asked further about the sign I was informed: "All sightings were probably large bears, but admittedly bears do not walk on two legs as a general rule. So the sign was created due to public demand for safety warnings for this creature and placed where the most sightings in the park have occurred." Notice the odd warning below the Bigfoot Crossing sign. I found it amusing — "creature resembling Bigfoot", and not simply Bigfoot. Shows the extraordinary caution the State of Colorado is extending to not be caught up in the Bigfoot craze."
1980 - Crockett, Texas - Houston County
LOCATION: This happened in the small East Texas
town of Crockett, Texas. In witnesses words
ENVIRONMENT: Woody area with a small creek and a few ponds in it.
OBSERVED: This parcel of land was where all of us kids would play at. No adults ever came out so we were free to do what we wanted. One day my cousin and I went out to this pond that was in the middle of this land. The land was all woods, sometimes thick areas, with a small creek that ran though it. We went out to the pond and were standing around when I looked into the woods and saw a black hairy creature standing there watching us. I showed my cousin and then we ran away. We told our parents but they never believed us. I never saw this creature again.
