Selcuk view from Hotel Urqmez

This is an 11th century Ottoman fort, looks really cool, but there is nothing inside at all, it's just a big wall. I had a guy trying to sell me fake Roman coins take me up there even though it was not open to the public. He was on leave from fighting the Kurdish rebels, proof of which he showed me a photo of himself holding up a rather large machine gun. He kept saying, "No problem", I said, "but it's illegal to take out of the country these coins" No problem he says.Probably not, but I saw "Midnight Express", say no more.
This pretty small town is only a mile or so from Ephesus, a great place to stay.

The library of Celsius at Ephesus

This is probably the most famous Roman monument in Turkey.Notice the detail in the colums. It is truely something to see in person. Go there! I went through this city twice, it was so amazing. First Greek, then Roman, over 200,000 people lived here once, including a visit from St. Paul(he really liked the shish kababs at Marcus Flavious's shish kabab emporium on V'th street)

This is the Grand Theatre at Efesus

This theatre is supposedly where Paul preached, and was kicked out of town by followers of the goddess Diana. It was there long before that though, when it was a Greek city. The Greeks were everywhere in Western Turkey before the Romans came.
