My favorite Turkish foods
Adana Kebab
This was my favorite food in Turkey, a spicy lamb shish kebab. You can make it at home by just grinding up some fresh lamb(don't use the ground lamb in the store, it's too fatty) add some fresh garlic and dried red pepper flakes, and mabye some breadcrumbs to bind it. Then grill it over coals.Serve it with.....
Parsley salad
Ok you take some flat leaf parsley, or Italian parsley, and some chopped up white onion, add some tomatoes and use a dressing of olive oil and vinegar(I like white wine vinegar) and lots of salt. That's it.It is simple but really tasty.
Turkish Pizza
This one, forget it, you can't make it at home. But please try it there! It is shaped like an oval, and has great toppings like lamb on it, and different kinds of cheeses. In Selcuk, I ordered 4 big pieces and a large beer, for about $2.00!
Breakfast consists of olives, white salty cheese, and bread. Everywhere bread in Turkey, and good bread. Also maybe an hard boiled egg, and some fruit, and of course Chai, or tea, also served everywhere. Even at car repair shops.
Most places to eat you just go in and pick what looks good from the window, and they bring it too you, it is simple and good. And, like elsewhere in the Middle east, they have lots of fresh oranges, for juice. Also, the Turkish beer is really good, try Ephes brand.
