Variorum class Escort Corvette
My original stab at this had J2 and a USP 1 nuclear damper, but to fit in the J3 fuel requirements I had to remove the damper. Oh well.

A jump drive with a range of 3 parsecs allows good strategic mobility. The standard turret mix has a fairly balance mix of offense (beam lasers) and defense (sandcasters), with one turret of missiles giving long range capabilities. The ship includes more staterooms than are required for the crew, as well as regular and emergency low berths. These accomodations allow for flexibility in transporting VIPs, detainees, or disaster victims. The ship includes 63 tons of cargo space that can be used for up to six months of supplies (using 1% of ship space per month) plus three tons for missile reloads. This ship is a design from the early days of the Imperium, when TL 12 was cutting edge, and is still encountered in some systems as newly built ships (particularly in less developed areas). The Variorum class vessels are typically named for document types.
