Questions regarding promotion through Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com, etc.

Some have asked why we don’t promote our beta-published books through companies like Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com in the same way that we do our full publications, especially as L&R Hartley Merchandising is affiliated with Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

There are three main reasons for this.

1. These companies used for their indexing the ISBN number and beta-published books do not have an ISBN. We can obtain an ISBN number, but a fee applies.

(See All about ISBNs, ISSNs, SANs, Dewey Numbers, Cutter Codes, Work Numbers and Book Deposits .pdf - 22k).

2. Although L&R Hartley, Merchandising is a subsidiary of L&R Hartley, management choices and decisions are distinct and separate. Sales of products are based on L&R Hartley Merchandising Management's perception of Best Practice at any given time.

3. Our Publishing Company Policy (formulated by Dr Lionel Hartley, our founder) prohibits us from recommending any one marketer over another, quote: "Out of fairness to those marketers who are only new to the business (that we have not yet heard about but may still be able to provide an excellent service), and to prevent a conflict of interest with our own merchandising we do not make personal recommendations."
