Soloman-class Courier

Soloman Class Courier

DESIGN NOTES: The Soloman-class courier is the Type-S "Suleiman-class" Scout ship from Traveller adapted to 2300AD. Credit for this clever idea goes to Andy Brick, who originally converted the Type-S to the Alexander Graham Bell-class courier. I'm assuming that, using the design sequence in the Naval Architects Manual, the stats for both classes would be about the same.

Soloman Class Courier

The Soloman-class has thrusters and landing gear to give the ship interface capability, and the ship's streamlined synthetic hull permits flight through dense atmospheres. Standing on its retractable tripod landing skids, the Soloman-class measures over 10 meters tall, about 19 meters wide and just under 29 meters long. No spin habitat is provided for the crew. Armament consists of a single, turret-mounted Hyde Dynamics EA-122 laser. Two folding photovoltaic solar cell arrays may be deployed from compartments located on the upper hull to recharge the fuel cells as well as provide auxiliary electrical power. The Soloman-class also features breaking/landing thrusters and powerful floodlights for nightside landing and cargo handling. Because the ship often operates in frontier areas without convenient refueling facilities, fuel cracking/refining machinery has been installed to allow refueling using water ice from comets and small moons.
