Secretary Minutes - February 14, 2003

Phi Theta Kappa held its fifth meeting of the spring semester on Friday, February 14, 2003 downstairs in the library.

President Katia Rovayeva called the meeting to order at 11:07 a.m. It was a very short meeting today. All that was discussed was the letter that we are writing to the governor's office. Kati Rovayeva, Anny-Claude Joseph, and Calvin Haba all meet with the schools budget administrator earlier in the day. We gathered facts and figures to help us write our letter. Dr. Sanchez, the President of Navarro, as well as others are looking forward to what we are going to write. So hopefully we will perform a good job. Also, our website is through Navarro College, so all of you need to check it out and thank Bill for his hard work. Happy Valentines Day!

Secretary Minutes - January 31, 2003

Phi Theta Kappa held its third meeting of the Spring semester on Friday, January 31, 2003 downstairs in the library.

President Kati Rovayeva called the meeting to order at 11:08 a.m. The main order on our agenda was the election to some of our vacant positions. They are as follows:

Vice President of Leadership - Jonathan Douglas

Vice President of Service - Anny-Claude Joseph

Vice President of Fellowship - John Currington

Public Relations - Casey McCluney

Treasurer - Calvin Haba

The next order of new business was the Club Fare that is on February 6th in the courtyard, which is in front of the library. Even thought we are an organization, not a club, we feel that we should be represented and be present to answer any questions concerning our organization. Hopefully some of the non-active members will be present at our future meetings. We have also decided that possibly once a month, or so, the chapter will get together and go out and do something together. It won't have anything to do with PTK, but will give us a chance to get to know each other. Please, don't feel obligated, in any way, over attending any of these outings if you aren't able. On an important note, assigned seating may be a future action taken at our meetings if attention deprived members can't control themselves- You know who you are.

DATES TO REMEMBER:
" March 6-8, the Convention in Tyler*

*Our chapter is only planning to attend one day of this three-day agenda. Some members have displayed an interest in getting their own hotel room and staying for all three days. If not, feel free to make the drive all three days.

Fridays meeting was adjourned at 11:53 a.m.

Secretary Minutes - January 24, 2003

Phi Theta Kappa held its second meeting of the Spring semester on Friday, January 24, 2003 downstairs in the library.

President Kati Rovayeva called the meeting to order at 11:05 a.m. This weeks meeting went smoother; everyone participated, except for the two creepy guys at the end of the table. The rest of the chapter tries not to make eye contact with them. Our first topic of discussion was the fundraisers. Six Flags is a for sure thing. We are also discussing selling roses around school on Valentines Day. Other groups, like the BSM, are also making bouquets and selling them, so this means that we must hustle. We are planning on targeting the couples around campus. The guys can't refuse us while in front of their girlfriends. The next topic of discussion was the Club Fare on February 6th. We are considering setting up a booth and giving away prizes. We are trying to get the PTK members, who don't show up to the meetings, to come. I think that we should put together a list of all those who are non-active and post it around school. Casey McCluney, our historian, is now our Public Relations officer. She has made fliers and has hung them around school. Remember there is a regional convention in Tyler the first week of March. We are considering driving there only one of the days, so that we will get credit for showing up. I don't know what they are going to do in three days that we can't do in one. Bill Loke, our Webmaster, presented our website to us. It will surpass any other club's website.

Fridays meeting was adjourned at 11:47 a.m.

Secretary Minutes - January 17, 2003

Phi Theta Kappa held its first meeting of the Spring Semester on Friday, January 17, 2003 dowstairs in the library.

President Katia Rovayeva called the meeting to order at 11:13a.m. Katia covered the old business and reminded us of tup coming events such as the Meals-On-Wheels program, the satellite seminars, and the fundraisers. Most of the meeting we were catching up with each other after the long Christmas break. Some of the other guys in the chapter are in the unofficial Harry Potter fan club and were discussing the different types of swords that they have received for Christmas. Everyone that plans on going to the International Convention at Anaheim, California must let Mr. Solis know se that he can reserve your place. Everyone is expected to buy his/her own plane ticket and provide his/her own transportation. It would be a whole lot easier if everyone that was going, get together and order all tickets together, and plan on renting a van while in California. It seems no one is interested in running for the international office. If anyone changes his/her mind, then let our president know and she will give whoever more specific information. Also, there will be a convention in Tyler sometimes in March. Next, our webmaster, Bill, asked us to bring any pictures that we have of PTK, so that he can put them on the website.

Fridays meeting was adjourned at 11:40 a.m.
