I've turned some big, lopsided pieces and the bench doesn't seem to take a walk with me ever. Good thing I still have my wife to do that. For Nova 3000 owners: Adding 960 lbs of mass is good, but don't forget to fortify the motor. I put a 4"X4" piece directly under the motor down to the floor for added support. I seldom have moved the belt to other than 1440 RPM so I didn't have to worry about getting a piece a different size. But what really helped me was to put a short piece, a log in my case with a shim piece, right under the headstock underneath the pulley area. This has significantly reduced any vibration-to-be in bigger pieces. I just love things that are rock solid. Anyway, here is my log supporting the motor assembly. Someday I'll get fancy and add a nicer piece of finished 6"X6" or something to it. But this works fine! This picture also has my Nova 3000 chuck with my newly bought power grip jaw set. Just love this set for my 10-16" turnings. Here is a picture with the motor support: Here is a front shot. Ignore the vacuum chuck setup. I've got a link on this you'll later see. <<<< Previous Page Next Page >>>> Home Page |
