FUNDRAISING PROJECTS-2001-2002

This Spring, 2001 our Board decided to deviate from play house construction and try another kind of structure for our annual raffle. We decided to build a Gazebo, thinking that it might appeal more to the adult public, and might result in greater ticket sales.

The final product is shown in the photo. It was designed and built by inmates of the Federal Prison in Florence, Colorado. The materials were furnished by this Habitat affiliate.

The plan is to move the Gazebo around on the flat bed trailer to local parades and other events where we can expect good public exposure for ticket sales, as well as to continue familurizing the people in our area with the Habitat for Humanity program.

Recently, the Gazebo was pulled through the "Pioneer Day" parade in Florence, an annual event attended by thousands. A photo of our involvement in that parade is shown in the photo below.(Left) The raffle will be held December 22, 6 P.M. at the Canon "City Market" (where it was held last year), after the decorated Gazebo has been pulled through the annual Canon City Christmas parade. The photo to the right is the 2nd raffle prize, a beautiful, three story, completely furnished Doll House.

Pioneer Day Parade 2nd Raffle Prize

On the 6th of December, the Gazebo was pulled through the Canon city Christmas Parade. See photo to the left.

On the evening of Dec 22, the raffle drawings were held as the "Lady Bugs", a local women's singing group, serenaded the crowd with Christmas Carols. Holding the winning Gazebo ticket was Mrs. Susan Stewart of Canon City. The Doll House was won by Mrs Crystal Atencio, also of Canon City. Photos of these two winners along side their prizes are shown below. (Mrs Stewart-left) (Mrs. Atencio-right, and to the far right is Mr.Paul Widger, Habitat Board Member.)
