Origin: South-eastern Brazil, especially around Rio de Janeiro. Temperament: Very good community fish. Peaceful. Size: Up to 4cm (1.6") Temperature: 70-77°F or 21-25°C pH Level: 6.5 to 7.0 Food: Flake food, pellets, worms, crustaceans, insects, greens. Tank Setup: Keep with peaceful fish that are not disproportionately bigger. Breeding: Eggs laid randomly, on plants, rocks, glass, and hatch in about 48 hours. Sexing: Females are generally more rounded.. Comments: Mainly nocturnal, a school of 4-6 fish is excellent for stripping the tank of algae. |
