Peppered Corydora
Corydoras paleatus
Origin: South-eastern Brazil south to the sub-tropical La Plata basin.

Temperament: Very good community fish. Peaceful.

Size: Up to 7cm (2.8")

Temperature: 70-80°F or 21-27°C

pH Level: 6.5 to 7.0

Food: Flake food, pellets, small meat pieces, worms, crustaceans, insects, greens. But make sure they can actually eat the food, they have small mouths, and flake food must be soaked in water so it sinks to the bottom. Don't let this fish rely on scavenging, it needs a proper diet as would any other fish.

Tank Setup: Keep in a tank 2" and larger. Keep with other peaceful species, and not fish that are much larger than them.

Breeding: Easiest catfish to breed. Spawning may take place over several days, with the eggs being laid on leaves. Eggs hatch in five to six days.

Sexing: Males tend to have a more ragged dorsal fin, and females are generally more rounded..

Comments: This is the beginner's catfish! Hardy and long lived, peppered corys, also known as the peppered catfish, make an excellent community fish.
