Origin: Southern Brazil.

Temperament: Tends to mind its own business and doesn't bother other fish.

Size: Up to 30cm (12") in the wild, though 15cm or 6" is more common in the home aquarium.

Temperature: 70-80°F or 21-27°C

pH Level: 6.5 to 7.0

Food: Algae, pellets, worms, crustaceans, insects, greens.

Tank Setup: Obviously keep in a large tank, this fish does better in a tank 4 feet or larger.

Breeding: Not known of in captivity.

Sexing: Difficult.

Comments: Not for the beginner, this fish is best left to the experienced fish-keeper familiar with catfish.
