Red-Tailed Shark
Labeo bicolor
Origin: Thailand.

Temperament: Community fish. Usually only aggresive towards own kind.

Size: Up to 12cm (5")

Temperature: 72-79°F or 22-26°C

pH Level: 6.5 to 7.0

Food: Flake food, pellets, plant matter, worms, crustaceans, insects.

Tank Setup: No special requirements. Best in a tank of 24" or more.

Breeding: Near impossible in aquaria.

Sexing: Difficult. Females tend to be more rounded.

Comments: Not a good idea to keep more than one per tank. Use upturned flowerpots or coconut shells to allow this species to establish its territory and to hide in. Despite the name, the Redtailed Shark or Redtailed Labeo is no relation to real sharks - it was so named because of its physical features.
