Jennifer Aniston may be rich and famous but she reckons she's the most boring person you'll ever meet. Smug could be Jennifer's middle name. She's got the looks, the body, the starring role in Friends and a cool $750,000 pay packet per episode. Most importantly, she is the woman who bagged Brad Pitt. The ultimate golden couple, they appear at every premiere decked out in designer clothes with their matching white smiles. But despite being one of the most famous and beautiful people on the planet, Jennifer Aniston is ridiculously normal and down to earth and suffers from insecurities just like the rest of us. She can't tell a designer frock from a high street rip-off, dreads walking in high heels and is a self-confessed 'homebody' who doesn't like going out anywhere she can't wear her flip-flops. In fact, Jennifer makes no secret of the fact that she prefers a night in front of the telly to rubbing shoulders with Tinseltown's finest. "I've never gone down that road of sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll and partying all night," she says. "I like being dull in the sense of the scene." With Brad as your hubby, it's not like you need an incentive to go out anyway, but Jen insists they're like any other couple. "It's funny, people have this idea of a life that's so glamorous but it couldn't be more boring and normal," she says. "Sitting at home, ordering takeout. We're ridiculous homebodies." When Jennifer does venture out for the cameras, she does it beautifully. Dressed in a slinky designer number, hair glossy and glowing with Californian perfection, Jennifer is one of the most stylish people in Hollywood. But she is the first to admit she's no fashion expert. "I remember thinking 'couture' was a designer's name," she recalls "I thought, 'Wow! This guy is everywhere - on every label.' That's how much I know." Despite this, Jen still looks like she was born to glide down a red carpet - but she admits this couldn't be further from the truth. "High heels, they're my nightmare. They make me break into a sweat. When we [her and Brad] go out, my criteria is: 'Where can I wear my comfy pants, flip-flops and a T-shirt?'" She may look effortlessly polished but it's nice to know Jennifer is capable of falling over and making an arse of herself like the rest of us. Despite living life in the A-list lane, Jennifer has managed to keep a remarkable perspective on it all. "They [the paparazzi] are hiding everywhere. They take pictures of me looking like a slob, I'm used to it. I give up - as long as I'm not bending over with my crack showing. Just the other day, I was mobbed in the sauna at my gym. There I am, buck-naked and these women come up and say: "Are you Jennifer?" I'm like: 'Yep. All of me. Every bit.'" Somehow you can't imagine some of the other belles of Hollywood reacting in the same calm way. It's rare to find such a self-deprecating star but Jennifer's attitude could be down to two things. Yes, she has a body to die for - but she's had to work for it. "The lucky ones are those with fast metabolisms. The rest of us have to work a bit harder," she says. "The majority of the time I don't feel beautiful. My mom was a model and actress and she knew what was beautiful. She's say: 'Your eyes are close together... your face is too wide, and see, honey, you have your father's mouth, so you're going to have to draw lines around it.' That's where the seed gets planted." No wonder Jen and her mum have fallen out. She had to work just as hard for her career. "I lied on my résumé early on," Jennifer says wryly. "I stated I'd appeared in this or that, when in fact I was the extra who stood next to a plant." Even though she now stars on one of the world's biggest comedy shows; fame hasn't gone to her head. When heat went behind the scenes on Friends recently, Jennifer treated the cast and crew alike. "She was very warm and always had a smile for anyone who came and talked to her," says heat's Features Editor, Michelle Davies. "Considering her superstar status, her lack of airs and graces was surprising." It's hard not to like Jennifer Aniston. She's beautiful but believable; she has ugly days like the rest of us. She doesn't take herself seriously. She's grateful for what she's got. She may live a charmed celebrity lifestyle but she doesn't buy into all the flashy hoo-ha that goes with it. Most importantly, any woman who can go out for dinner with the world's most desirable man in her slobby clothes and flip-flops and still have him madly in love with her must have something special.
