Environmental Engineering

Environmental engineering concerns itself with the task of protecting the quality of the human environment, including air, land and water.

This field embraces a wide field, from the depths of the oceans, where marine resources must be preserved, to the depletion of ozone layers in the upper atmosphere.

Environmental engineers, environmental lawyers, environmental planners all contribute in the protection and preservation of the environment.

Specialisations

Environmental engineers may specialise in working on land, air or water.

Employment

Environmental engineers are employed in large numbers by the government and private sector industries, both to monitor and control ongoing pollution and to anticipate and deal with the likely impact on the environment of proposed new projects, like dams, skyscrapers or industrial units.

Environmental engineers are also employed with industries dealing with recycled products and waste management.
