Passing Parade: The Third DegreeRonnie Ramada, rock musician and guitarist for Frigg a-go-go.What kind of music does Frigg a-go-go play? It's real rock 'n' roll from the South. It's something that your mama's scared of, but that your sister really likes. Who's in the band? There's me. Cadwicked plays the drums. Jeremy Steward plays bass and Sir Critian Leo plays the keyboards. Do y'all get the chance to do a lot of shows? No, we don't really do too many. We kind of like just comming out to the shed, sitting out here and doing nothing with out lives When do y'all get the chance to practice? We change it up. There are drinking specials every night of the week at different places and there are some of us who prefer certain ones over the others. So we switch it up so that we all have a turn at our favorite local dive. What are the favorite dives? I don't want to name any places. Too many people would start showing up. That would not be very pleasant. You mean people hounding you for your autograph? Oh yeah. I guess that's part of it. That's why my little sisters like me. They can get in with the good crowds just by asking for my signature and passing it on to the right friends. It's like money. So this band isn't planning on getting on VH-1's Behind The Music? Oh yeah! Totally. What do you think a kid gets into a rock band for? He wants to own the world. He wants to conquer. But as you get older, you start to realize it's not just about conquering. It's also about taking things into your own hands and doing it your way. So y'all don't plan on making a living out of this? I sure ain't making a living doing anything else. We all got jobs. Occasionally one of us might pop into a school or something. I spend moer time trying to avoid the people that I owe than actually trying to make money to pay anybody. Rock 'n' roll is not suited for lining the pockets. There's really not too much payola. You've got to get into it gor the girls -- not the money. I mean you make 50 bucks at a show, you can't exactly afford anything except maybe a couple of bites of food and some alcohol and maybe gas. Fifty bucks a show per person or between y'all? I've never made any money on this band. I pay to play in this band. I pay to play music for people. That's what it boils down to. I'm like a little rock 'n' roll b***h. That's a song isn't it? I think everyone of our songs is about being a little rock 'n' roll b***h. Y'all hang out a lot with Snoop Doggy Dog? No not really. I was chilling with Juvenile recently. They're just regular guys, aren't they? Yeah, man. Just like you. Just like me. Printed in the July 5, 2000 issue. Vol. 20, No. 45 By: R. Reese Fuller Photo by Terri Fensel |
