We offer weekly 1 hour classes to children aged 3 to 10 preferably with an italian background. The class is normally afterschool or at lunchtime. Class size varies from 5 to 12 children. We involve the children in activities designed to learn Italian. The lessons are planned to suit the children's age group.
Our aims are: to practise speaking and listening to native speakers, to improve pronounciation, to read and write in Italian (for older children). All this in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of action-songs, role-play and games.
We always talk in Italian and we demonstrate the activities for the children who do not hear Italian at home. At the end of each session we briefly tell the parents what we have covered and we hope they will practise at home. We also encourage the children to make friends and to appreciate learning together.
These are weekly classes lasting 1 to 2 hours. Class size is from 8 to 12 adults. Our objectives are: being able to communicate effectively with native speakers, developing reading and writing with the help of authentic material (ex:Italian books or magazines like:"OGGI"). We use the "Communicative approach" method and therefore the emphasis will be on the speaking skills. We will regularly encourage conversation in Italian on different topics and also work on the structure of the language with the help of a text book,verb book and homework. We also watch and analyse italian films like "Il Postino" or "Cinema Paradiso" and keep up to date with Italian events in London (Italian film festival, Language show and Dolce Vita exhibition).
