The Master Bathroom

Yet another work in progress and one of the least touched rooms in the trailer.

Beautiful isn't it?

I've done very little in here other than to watch the floor slowly disintegrate under our feet. This will be the next project after the master bedroom is done. There is little work in here to be done if I wanted to just put in a new floor. But no. We know remodeling doesn't work like that. This room will be getting another of the more major makeovers. A new floor, the cabinets will be taken out and re-leveled and put back in. The wallpaper may be staying I haven't decided yet. But the white and gold theme will be staying. New cabinet pulls are a must as half are missing. There is a built in hamper on this unit and I've found I'd really hate to loose it. The sink and countertop will be leaving. The current sink is badly damaged and I hate the yellow. After living two years here the words "Harvest Gold" can send me screaming into the woods nude. The upper cabinets will also be staying along with all the mirrors. The countertop will be replaced as it is chipped and stained badly and may not fit the new sink. Once I find one that is.

Current look

As you can tell the lighting in here isn't as great as it could be. There is no window and the overhead fan doesn't work. So these will be replaced with retro yet modern lighting and a light/exhaust fan combo in the ceiling. Both will give better lighting. Again, I am tempted to keep the wallpaper as it goes so well with the decor and white fixtures can only enhance the look.

The floor

As you can see the floor is hideous. I also have separation between the tub and floor. The toilet area apparently rotted out at some point and was fixed with a board. This floor will come out probably this winter. The biggest job is that the toilet is going to be replaced and the position moved to the other wall in front of the hamper. (exactly on the wall seam on the left) For now I am getting a simple white toilet but eventually I would like to get a toilet with a bidet combo. I like a clean butt let's face it. Placing the toilet here will also give me more room in the bathroom in case I decide to get a larger spa style tub. (which is my goal)

The floor is a hideous Harvest Gold linoleum. Awful. Once the new floor is in I will decide between tile or laminate. I am inclined towards tile as I'd like to keep the room as 70's as possible and oak laminate somehow doesn't seem right for this room. So chances are I may actually go looking for some vintage looking tiles.

So compared to the other areas of the trailer the bathroom is simple. But the additions will be eventually luxurious additions to the tin can.

Have I mentioned how I hate Harvest Gold??
