ALTERNATE ART - SOOTHSAY |
- Beginner's Luck A simple luck cantrip, Beginner's Luck is the easiest way to change a person's fate for better or worse. The effect provides a simple -1 or +1 difficulty on the target's next action, as long as it takes place within the time frame of the effect. System: The Realm determines the target of the cantrip. The number of successes determine the total number of turns that can be spent before the cantrip expires without taking effect. Only one cantrip can be active at any given time. If more than one is cast, the one with the shortest duration activates first, and the next activates on the next action, and so on. Type: Chimeric |

- See the Truth A skilled Soothsayer can divine the weaves of fate, and one of the easier uses of this is to sense when a subject speaks the truth. By watching the weaves around a target carefully, the caster can easily tell when lies are being spoken. System: The target of the cantrip determines the Realm. The caster can tell if their target is lying, being given the same ability as a member of House Gwydion, except that the spell works equally well against Eiluned. If the spell is cast by a Gwydion, and is not cast against an Eiluned, it grants them -3 difficulty to their rolls against the target. Note that the spell doesn't let the caster see what the truth is, only that a lie is being told. The effect lasts one minute for every success rolled. Type: Chimeric |

- Pastsight Seeing the future and the present is accounted for, but there is one other important detail usually left out from Soothsay - the ability to see into the past. With enough successes, a caster can see almost every detail of the past. System: The Realm is determined by what the pastsight is centered on. For example, if looking into a mortal's past, you would use the Actor realm. Successes are divided between the distance into the past that the caster can look and the length of time that they can watch what happens. It takes 1/5 of the time to watch the past, although the caster sees it as if it were normal speed. Type: Chimeric |

- Athena's Blessing A side effect of watching the web of fate is that you can use it to give you hints as to how something works. With Athena's Blessing, the target of the cantrip can raise or lower their Mental Attributes, turning even the lowliest drudge into a mental powerhouse, or a genius into a drooling vegetable System: The realm for this cantrip is determined by the target of the cantrip. Successes are divided between power and duration. Every success on power increases (or decreases) a Mental Attribute by one point. Increasing an Attribute past five, or decreasing it past one (not counting Birthrights), requires two successes per point. No Attribute can be raised past 8 or lowered past 0. Every success spent on duration grants one minute to the cantrip's duration. Remember that if a Mental Attribute is reduced to 0, the target is effectively useless for the duration. Type: Wyrd |

- The Devil's Own Luck This amazingly powerful cantrip ensures that the target has luck like they wouldn't believe. Not necessarily good luck, mind you, but luck nonetheless. The weave of fate decides when the power manifests, although the caster can specify certain circumstances at the time of the casting to help shape what happens. System: The target of the cantrip determines the Realm. In a good luck cantrip, the number of successes on the cantrip grant the target that many free successes during the course of the day(it doesn't decrease their dice pool). In a bad luck cantrip, each success provides an extra die that automatically comes up '1'(again, the die pool is unaffected). The cantrip lasts for one day, and all successes must be spent by the end of it. The extra successes and botches manifest as unlikely twists of fate, becoming more extreme the more are used on a single roll. On good luck, the player of the target determines when it is used. On bad luck, the Storyteller determines. The caster can specify certain circumstances during which at least half the successes/botches must be used. If it doesn't come up, they fade away. Type: Wyrd |
