VALKYRIES |
The lords and ladies of battle, valkyries live for the glory of war. Be it on a modern battlefield, a chimeric joust, or a drunken brawl, the valkyries excel in all things martial, proving their prowess whenever they are given the oppurtunity. Seelie valkyries commonly become protectors in strife-stricken regions, while Unseelie ones challenge anyone who could give a good fight. With the recent troubles in Concordia, this had become the best place for a valkyrie to be! |
Appearance Valkyries look mostly human, with blonde-white hair and light skin, emulating their Norse dreamers. The one oddity about them are the small, feathery wings growing just behind their ears. These wings flap when a valkyrie is upset, but otherwise do very little. |
Seemings - Childings are schoolyard scrappers, avoided by the local bullies due to their readiness to fight. They hang out with a rather rough crowd, and often get in trouble with authorities. It's not uncommon for baffled parents to wonder why a child is so polite and friendly, yet ready to fight at the drop of a hat. - Wilders tend to become a bit more marginalized, although they can sometimes become friends of the downtrodden. Their fighting styles develop during this time, and they decide just what they want to do with their careers. - Grumps are a bit more laid-back, and tend to become teachers, sparring against their promising students, and continuing to hone their skills. However, they generally don't seek out the front lines as much. |
Affinity Fae Birthrights - Battle-skills- Valkyries can call upon the Dragon's Ire at will, for the cost of EITHER one willpower or one Glamour. When in this state, they gain +1 die to all combat rolls, in addition to the Ire's normal benifits - Sight of Battle - All valkyries can tell how skilled their opponents are. With a successful Perception + Brawl, Melee, or Firearms roll (difficulty of the opponent's Manipulation + Subterfuge), they can tell a target's rating in the appropriate ability instantly. Frailty - Battle-bound - Valkyries are avatars of combat, and have extreme trouble dealing with peace. A Valkyrie must succeed at a Willpower roll, difficulty 6, to back down from a fight, and takes a point of temporary Banality if they do. To abandon a fight in progress requires a roll at difficulty 9, and bestows two temporary Banality on the poor Valkyrie. However, a Valkyrie who is clearly outmatched can make the difficulty 6 roll and take only one Banality to surrender in a fight. |
Quote "You are certainly confidant when you beat up weaklings, fool. Let us see how well you will do against a real opponent. Stand and deliver, or run and die." |
Relations with Others Valkyrie relations tend to follow a set pattern. First, other fae think their skills would be very useful. Then, they figure out how volatile a valkyrie gets. Finally, they avoid them. Valkyries, for their part, tend to make temporary relations with others, as they quest for the perfect opponent. Redcaps - Valkyries enjoy fighting redcaps one-on-one, but the latter's tendancy to attack from hiding and in packs sometimes assures hostility from their target. However, Unseelie Valkyries greatly enjoy what redcaps will do to win - anything - and will even join corbies, where their combat skills direct them to a position of importance. Troll - Troll-valkyrie relations go not unlike normal ones, but more. Trolls resent the way that valkyries never seem to avoid fights that don't have to happen, although they don't get along too badly with Seelie ones. Valkyries, for their part, enjoy trollish sparring partners as the ultimate challenge, but their constant threats rapidly become tiresome. Morrigan - Valkyries have a strange relationship with their Thallain counterparts. On the one hand, the morrigan are quite possibly the single best enemy that a valkyrie could have. On the other, they make a mockery of war, turning a battle into a slaughter, and killing innocents. To sum it up, valkyries greatly enjoy killing morrigan, and the feeling is mutual. |
