| Born in Santa Monica in 1971, Sean began his acting career in 1981 at the age of 10 and played a number of sons for on screen couples like Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in 'The War of the Roses' and Sam Shepard and Susan Sarandon in Safe Passage. In an interview, Astin admitted that his secret to acting is finding a key to unlock the characters personality. This idea was put into practise with his character in the Lord of the rings trilogy, Sam Gamgee. Sam's key was gardening. Astin describes Sam as being, "loyal and honest" with a sweet personality and that sometimes he gets scared. Sean is married to Christine Astin and they have a daughter, Alexander Louise Astin and are expecting their second child. So far in his ever-growing acting career Sean has starred in over 25 motion pictures and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy being the most up to date. |
