| PROFILE: NAME: Catherine Elise Blanchett DOB: May 14th 1969 BIOGRAPHY: Born in May 1969, in Melbourne Australia, Cate lost her father, Bob Blanchett when she was ten. She lived with her mother June Blanchett, sister Genevive and brother also named Bob. Cate is the second oldest in the family. Her father was a Naval Officer when he met her mother and his death affected her for the rest of her life. In June 1997 she married Andrew Upton. Through her long career spanning over 8 years Cate has starred in 21 motion pictures and received 16 different awards including a BAFTA for Best Actress in Elizabeth and a Golden Globe for best drama. In the Lord of the Rings trilogy Cate takes on the role of the Lady Galadriel, who lives in the enchanted forest of Lothlorien with her parner, Celeborn. In the Fellowship she gives each member a gift to guide them on their journey, including the sacred elven star, Elendil, which she gives to Frodo. |
