Making a house is very important if you buy crickets. This is a very simple set-up. Ok first you need to buy a plastice terrarium. Make sure it is not too big or not to small. If the floor of the cage looks like its moving... IT'S WAY TO SMALL! SO change the cage if this happens. Now since you have the cage add one small baby carrot or a chunk of a carrot. If you use Gut-Load sprinkle some Gut-Load in the cage. Next add a small piece of sponge or cotton ball. Get it wet first! Then wedge it agianst a corner. OR, I use "Flukers" Cricket Quencher With Calcium. These are gel like chunks that dont drown your crickets and also give them extra calcium! BONUS! :-) Now cut up some strips of paper. Don't cut up too many! Remember they need space! Just cut up enough so they have something to climb on NOT a jungle! Now you are ready to by your crickets. Remember to wet the sponge/cotton ball once a week! Or add water bites (just a few) everytime you feed your toads! Using the Coating Powder Personally I prefer using gut-load but if you think you would rather do this then that your choice. Ok, this is what I used when I first started off. First take the number of crickets that you need and put them in one by one into a zip-lock bage. Next take a pinch of powder and sprinkle some in. Now close the zip-lock and shake the bag. Now take them out and put them in the cage. Sizing your Crickets The cricket that your get for your frogs should be no larger then their head. If they are larger than their head they will choke. Meal Worms Meal worms are good for your herps diet. Although alot of toads don't like them (including my toads especially Penny!) because they don't move much. If your toads like them thats good news! Small Insects I never have fed my frogs small insects so I dont know much about them. I hope... this page helped you!
