Even more good news! Thanks to Nancy, we have the info that Dark Angel will be on Court TV on May 18 at 5p.m. cst and on May 19 at 1a.m. cst. Dark Angel was the pilot for a series set in New Orleans that wasn't picked up. Eric was good in it and it's really really hard to get on video.
I got some bad news that I'm sort of puzzled about. Geocities says that they are shutting The Unofficial Eric Roberts web page down for three days because too many people are accessing my pages. This is impossible. They said "a web page that contains 200,000 bytes of images will only be able to be viewed about 20-25 times per hour" before exceeding the limit. Are they out of their minds???? They have obviously mistaken this web site for either eBay or Amazon.com !!!!
April 9, 2002. Thanks to those who sent me email about Roughing It. The movie was enjoyable. Eric's role was a small one but probably the most important to the plot. Without the character played by Eric, Mark Twain would never have become a writer. Remember that April 18 is Eric's birthday. Try sending birthday cards to his business address at Triple E Productions, 12025 1/2 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604
I just heard that Eric was spotted on MTV in an urban hip-hop music video by JA Rule called Down Ass Chick. I have been watching MTV as much as I can stand to but have not seen it yet.
An article in Daily Variety says that Eric is filming a pilot for an as-yet-untitled comedy series for ABC. It is about an office temp who lands a high profile secretarial job that pits her against her more glamorous and highly competitive coworkers. Variety says that Eric plays her boss who is a tv anchor.
March 30, 2002. Bad news. The Murder by Numbers that is opening at theaters on April 19 is not the movie that was also called Murder by Numbers with Eric Roberts in it. More news about when (or if) we will get to see the Murder by Numbers with Eric Roberts when I find out.
March 10, 2002. If you get the Hallmark Channel and saw Mark Twain's Roughing It, would you be willing to write a review for me to put on this web page?
February 14, 2002. Eric is in the credits as "Foreman" on the world network premiere of Mark Twain's Roughing It, a four-hour original miniseries based on Mark Twain's own coming of age presented on Hallmark Channel, Saturday, March 16 (8 p.m. - Midnight ET/PT).
January 12, 2002. Eric was just one of the celebrities who participated in the first west coast performance of Hal Willner's Closed on Account of Rabies, a staged reading of some of Edgar Allan Poe's best known writing. Closed on Account of Rabies was first performed in New York in 1995. Eric gave an intense reading of Poe's short story The Black Cat at Royce Hall, UCLA. The text of The Black Cat is available for you to read at the web site of the Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore.
January 8, 2002. Eric and Eliza will give viewers a tour of their Los Angeles home on the syndicated TV show Famous Homes & Hideaways. This episode will air between 25 February and 3 March 2002. The show appears on WB affiliate TV stations so check your local TV schedule for the day and time.
December 6, 2001. Con Games is supposed to have been released on video this week but I haven't been able to find it. Has anyone seen it? It looks like Eric has gone back to the hair do that he had in Pope of Greenwich Village. At least it's not cornrows! Eric wears a badge in this one, too. Don't you just love to see a man in a uniform?
November 20, 2001. The Justice League was on TV last night and that's when I found out that Eric may be in only one episode. He is the voice of a bad guy (of course!) called Mongul who is the ruler of the planet Warworld where he makes people fight like gladiators. In one episode, Superman is going to be taken to Warworld and forced to fight for his life. I think that it might be the 5th episode and it might be on the Cartoon Network on Saturday, December 15 and Monday, December 17.
November 13, 2001. Rough Air was released direct to video on 8 November in Hungary!!! I know that the movie is about some kind of problem on an airplane. Did they decide not to release it here? Does that mean I'll never get to see it??
October 24, 2001. I thought that Long Ride Home would be released by now but I haven't seen it anywhere. Raptor is supposed to be released on video November 6. Con Games will be released on video December 4. Eric said something during an interview about making National Security but the release date for that is not until April 2002. I was disappointed with the Frozen in Fear DVD. There were extras listed on the outside of the package that are not actually on the DVD.
October 3, 2001. I don't have much news. The King's Guard will be on television about ten times in October on SHOXE-Extreme starting October 11. See your local listings for exact times. If you want to know when Eric's movies will be on TV, check TV NOW.
September 16, 2001. Eric will be in Mindstorm on the SciFi channel on Saturday, Sept. 22 and twice on Sunday, Sept. 23. Check your local TV schedule for times.
Many of you -- Eric's fans -- here and in other countries have expressed their dismay at the tragedy and I would like to thank you for the prayers and good wishes that you have sent. My family is alive and well but many others from my town went to work in NYC on Tuesday and will not be coming home.
August 26, 2001. Eric is in the latest installment of the new Spenser movies, Walking Shadow, on the A&E channel tonight, Sun. August 26. He is interviewed at AandE.com
August 24, 2001. There is a NEW Official Eric Roberts web site under construction. This one was designed by Eric's Triple E Productions and is completely different from the old one. I love the photos of Eric with his horse.
August 18, 2001. Look for Mindstorm on the SciFi channel on Saturday, September 22 and see Eric as a charismatic cult leader. See your local listings for time. Thanks, Nancy.
August 9, 2001. The producer of The King's Guard wants us to know that it will be on TV three times in August on Showtime's "Family Zone" channel. They are: August 17 at 9:25am and 12:45am and August 26 at 9:05pm. Family Zone is mostly available on the East coast.
Also, Lions Gate Films is scheduled to release the video nationally on August 28th. (I've already pre-ordered mine!) Jeeze! Will you look at that video box? Well, it's got Eric on it so how could it be anything but fabulous? She also reports that The King's Guard web page will be updated soon.
August 3, 2001. According to David Spaner, movie writer in Vancouver, Ben Ratner replaced Eric Roberts in a guest-starring role on NBC's Mysterious Ways July 20 because Eric pulled out at the last minute. His hair had been dyed platinum blond for a film he was working on and he was unwilling to dye it again.
July 25, 2001. Nancy pointed out that the printed TV schedules are not always correct or complete. She found Sanctimony only in the daily On Screen guide. I also like TV-Now
A long-time celebrity photographer that I've bought good stuff from has started auctioning his photos. He's auctioning one right now of Eric and Kelly Cunningham.
July 17, 2001. I just got email from award-winning writer-director Garrett Bennett saying that his short film, End of the Icon can be viewed online at I-Film! Eric has a small role in the film.
According to E!Online, Eric was just interviewed by TV Ontario for their series, The Interview. No word when it will be on TV in Canada. If anyone sees it, please let us know what he says. Thanks to June for the tip.
I finally got a reply from the web master at Eric's official web site but they did not say if his web site would be coming back. They did not even seem to know that it was down. They said they would look into it.
July 10, 2001. It looks like the movie Eric made last year called The Flying Dutchman will be released on Sept. 11, 2001, with the title Frozen in Fear. It stars Eric with Rod Steiger and Catherine Oxenburg. Watch the E.R. Filmography for more information.
June 25, 2001. Dr. Who will be on the SciFi channel on Sunday, July 15, at 8:00pm Eastern time. (Thanks to n. for the heads up!).
Stiletto Dance will be available for rent and sale on July 24. The list price for the video is $59.99 and the list price for the DVD is $29.99. Heaven's Fire will be available July 17. List price for the video is $101.99 and list price for the DVD is $22.99. Luck of the Draw will be on TV July 7 for those lucky (or rich) enough to get Cinemax. Sanctimony will also be available on Action pay-per-view and Hot Choices in July. If you get any of these channels (I don't), check with your local cable company for day and time. Thanks to Lisa for this info. The DVD will be out July 3 for $19.98.
I have also heard from Geoff that The King's Guard DVD will be available on August 28. Retail price is $19.99. This is great news for those of us who like costume epic movies. Eric is still a bad guy but now he'll be a bad guy with an sabre!
June 23, 2001. Mercy Streets was #19 on BillBoard Magazine's top video sales chart for May 2001. This is exceptional for a small independent film.
I still can't connect to the Official Eric Roberts Web Site. I have emailed them several times but have not received the curtesy of a reply. Why do I care? Because IMHO celebrities need an official web site. An official web site has the professional resources to do great stuff. Stuff that unofficial web sites can't do -- don't have the connections to do -- to promote the celebrity. It would suit me just fine if Eric had an official web site like the one for Peter Noone.
Eric seems to be making, or has made, several movies lately that I don't have much information about. I got the word on Spun from a Mom whose son is in it. It is not in Eric's filmography on Internet Movie Database. But IMDB also missed him in Dirk and Betty and Stiletto Dance which is now playing on HBO. Guess I'll have to send a little email to IMDB and catch them up. He is also making Long Ride Home, a cowboy flick, Murder by Numbers and National Security which are apparently thrillers. I hope to have more news on those movies soon.
I am getting email from all over the map that Eric has appeared in several magazines lately. I am trying to find and buy them all so that I can report on them for this web page. These include the June issue of OK! magazine and the June 20 issue of NOW magazine.
June 4, 2001. I haven't been able to connect to the Official Eric Roberts Web Site in several days. Please try it and, if it's not back online, email the webmaster at webmaster@safesearching.com and complain. I have emailed them but when this happened last time they did not respond until they received email from several people.
People have been asking for me to put up a list of Eric's films that includes just enough information so that people can tell which movie is which. People also want to know which movies are available on video. Sometimes I don't know that. Sometimes things are available one place (Germany or Iceland) and not available where I am (U.S.). Anyway, I am working on this list but it is still under construction.
May 29, 2001. An email from a Mom in Los Angeles says that her son just filmed a couple scenes with Eric in the film Spun directed by Jonas Ackerlund. No word yet how big Eric's role is.
May 26, 2001. There are two movies to set up your VCR for in June. Stiletto Dance is a new movie on HBO on June 8, 14, 15, 18 and 27. Check your local tv schedule for times.
On June 28 Saved by the Light is being re-run on LIFETIME network. I keep getting email about this movie from people who are trying to buy it but it is hard to come by. Here is your chance to get it on tape.
April 21, 2001. There will be more stuff in the newspapers about Eric's kids soon. Following on the success of the Mercy Streets soundtrack, Eric's step-son, Keaton, has more show dates in L.A. and San Francisco. Eric says he's Keaton's biggest fan and goes to all his shows when he's not away on location.
Meanwhile, little Emma is attracting attention with her role in Blow. She will be in the issue of People on newstands this week (the one with Suzanne Somers on the cover) with a photo on the table of contents page and on page 108.
There will be an article about Eric in US weekly magazine that's coming out around April 26. I have it from the Marvelous Miss M (a reliable source if there ever was one!) that there is a little out-of-date information in the article but there's mostly good stuff. In fact, there was so much stuff that the article was too long for the space they allowed and some of the great things that people said about Eric had to be left out.
April 15, 2001. Wednesday April 18 is Eric's birthday. Two years ago, the USA Weekend magazine removed Eric from their celebrity birthdays list. Since then many of us have sent them email asking them to put Eric back on the list. The list was published in today's magazine and ERIC'S NAME IS BACK ON THE LIST.
March 25, 2001. A story about Eric and Julia in the British newspaper, the Sunday Times, says that they will be meeting for the first time in a decade to be with Emma at the New York premiere of her new picture, Blow. There is a photo of Eric and Emma with the story. Thanks to Peter for sending this news to me.
March 11, 2001. I just heard that Walking Shadow will air on A&E during September 2001.
March 5, 2001. MercyStreets will be out on video April 3.
February 27, 2001. Here's a new photo of Eric in the VH1 film Strange Frequency.
Eric was in Vancouver on Feb. 14 filming an A&E drama based on the novel Walking Shadow by Robert B. Parker. Eric plays Police Chief DeSpain. Joe Mantegna plays Spenser and Ernie Hudson plays Hawk.
In Booklist magazine Wes Lukowsky described the Police Chief as "a tough, former state cop named DeSpain, who is now Port City's crooked police chief. If Spenser lost his moral focus, he'd be a ringer for DeSpain; as is, the cop makes a formidable adversary.
So Eric is playing another bad guy. In an interview for the Vancouver Sun he told Lynne McNamara "I'm going to work until I drop for 10 more years and then I'm retiring, so I'm havin' a goood time, 'cause it's all for a purpose. To retire and relax."
February 2, 2001. According to TV Guide and Lisa's sharp little eyes -- Eric will guest star on King of Queens on Monday, Feb. 5, on CBS. Eric Roberts guest stars as Jack Strohmeyer, a somewhat strange man who is Doug's loyal partner during a paintball match. The show airs 8:00pm eastern time. Check your local listings. At the end of the week, he will guest star on Law & Order:SVU on Friday, Feb. 9 at 10pm eastern time. The show will be repeated on USA network Feb. 18 at 11 pm. The name of the episode is "Victims" and Eric is the special guest murder suspect! If he is appearing on these shows during February Sweeps, they must consider him a pretty good guest star.
> January 16, 2001. Back in Black is now called Strange Frequency and will be on VH-1 on Wed. Jan. 24 at 8pm or 9pm depending on where you live. Thanks, Lisa.
January 1, 2001. There is a little information about the movie Sol Goode at the Unofficial Balthazar Getty Fan Page but no clues about how big Eric's role is.
For a minute or two of Eric, watch Intimate Portrait" of Nancy McKeon, Friday, January 5 on Lifetime at 7pm eastern time. Eric is supposed to make a few comments about working with her on the film Love, Honor and Obey: the last Mafia marriage. For those of you who missed it, "Made in the USA" will rerun on Touched by an Angel January 4 at 10pm eastern time on PAX.
