Thanks for Robbie for the great idea! :)

Abby awoke to the sound of the ocean lapping in the distance and a warm breeze coming in through the open screen door. She moaned and turned over to face Carter. She gently touched him on the shoulder and leaned in to kiss his cheek.
"John...get up."
Abby saw him stir and slowly open his eyes. "Good morning." She said softly.
"Morning." He pulled her closer and kissed her lazily.
"Our last day..." Abby said reluctantly.
"I never thought you’d admit it." Carter chuckled, turning over onto his back.
"Well, I guess I had to sooner or later." Abby said, laying on his chest.
"Too soon?"
"*Way* too soon."
"What do you want to do today?"
"Everything...but no more paddle boating!"
"C’mon, you loved it."
"Yeah, I loved getting stuck on that patch of reefs and almost having to swim back with all the little fishes chasing after me, it was great..."
"Ok, so paddle boating is off the agenda." Carter responded.
"Definitely. No more being terrified." Abby said, cuddling up to him and closing her eyes. "You know, I like the hammocks on the beach. They’re so relaxing."
"When we get back and buy a house, we’ll get a big backyard and you can have a hammock."
Abby opened her eyes. "A house?"
"Yeah..."
"You never said anything about buying a house."
"What’s the matter with a house?" Carter said, amused.
"I don’t know. It seems like such a big step."
"We don’t have to. If you don’t want to."
"I don’t know..." Abby paused, and she smiled up at him. "I’ll have to think about it."
"Whatever you want."
"So what do you want to do today?"
"Take a walk on the beach when the sun sets. With you."
"That sounds nice."
"Hey, I’m a romantic."
"I like romantic men."
"That’s why you married me."
Abby giggled. "If that’s what you want to think."
"I will then."
"C’mon, let’s go get some breakfast."
Carter groaned. "But we can’t make love and eat breakfast at the same time."
Abby started to get out of the bed. "Obviously."
"You can’t take a hint." Carter said, grabbing her, pulling her back into the bed, and rolling on top of her.
"Breakfast can wait, I guess." Abby replied.

"What are you thinking about?"
Carter snapped out of his daze and turned his head to Abby. He had been staring out at the water, which had turned pink like the sky, as the sun set. They were walking by the water down the beach.
"Nothing important."
"Of course it is." She replied, grabbing his hand.
"Have you ever felt like running as fast as you could, just because? An open space, perfect to have your arms out at either side of you, not having to worry about hitting anything?"
"Is that what you think about, when you walk here?"
"Yeah. It’s what I think about all the time. I never stop thinking about it."
"That’s kind of the way life is, I think." Abby said thoughtfully. "There’s moments when you just want to run as fast as you can, and not worry...for some the moments come more often then others."
"But I don’t have to run anymore. Not with you here." He smiled a little and kissed the side of her head.
"Or maybe I could just run with you..." Abby replied. She looked to the sky again. "It’s getting dark."
"We should go up to the hotel. I have a surprise for you."
"A surprise? Haven’t you given me enough surprises in the last little while?"
"What’s one more? C’mon, let’s go."

They got up to the hotel room and Carter dug around in a bag.
"What are you doing?" Abby asked, sitting down in a chair and peering curiously at him.
Carter turned to her with a wrapped box in his hand. He walked over to her and gave it to her.
"What’s this?"
"Why don’t you open it and see..." Carter said, putting his hands in his pockets.
"It couldn't be an engagement ring 'cause we're already married ..." She teased, slowly unwrapping the gift.
"Just open it already! I mean, I’m nervous enough..."
Abby paused. "Nervous?"
Carter nodded but didn’t say anything.
Abby laughed uneasily. "You’re making me nervous."
"Then open it..."
Abby resumed unwrapping the gift and gasped when she finally saw what it was. "John ... what's this?"
He knelt beside her and grabbed her hand. "Marrying you was the best possible move that I've made in my life. I’ve never been so happy before I met you. I didn’t know that someone could be so happy..."
Abby felt a tear slip down her cheek. This was surreal. He pulled her up and put the box on the table beside them.
"I was at the market today and I saw a man and a woman who looked about as happy as I felt. They had a newborn baby with them."
Abby suddenly felt hot. "What are you trying to tell me."
"Don’t you know?"
She tried to speak, but her voice came out as a dry croak. So she whispered. "I need to hear you say it..."
"I realized that I'm going to be spending the rest of my life beside you ... and even though it‘s almost unreal how perfect we are together, the one thing that could make me happier is having a baby with you."
Abby was crying freely. "That sounded even better than it did in my head."
"So I went to the pharmacy and bought this pregnancy test for whenever we start trying ... whenever you're ready ... 'cause I want you to know that I am."
Abby nodded and looked down. "Are you sure we’re ready for this?’
"I'm ready to take the next step in our relationship. I’m not saying I want to start now. I’m just saying that whenever you’re ready, know that you don’t have to worry about whether I am."
She giggled. "You know, I was scared buying a house. A baby is a million times bigger than that."
Carter smiled. "So now the house won’t be a big deal."
She wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his chest. She whispered again. "I’m ready," and kissed him sweetly on the mouth.
"What did you say?"
"I said I’m ready."
She lifted her head up and looked at his smiling face. Anytime she was scared or insecure all she had to do was look at that face and everything was okay. She had told the truth. She was ready. This is what she wanted. What she always wanted. She just had to find it.
