"All those people..." Abby thought to herself. Her cue to enter came as the music struck up. She looked over, grabbing her brother Eric’s arm.
"Thank you." She said, smiling up at him. "Anything for you Abby. This one’s going to be around for awhile, isn’t he?" Eric replied.
"I think so. I hope so..." At Eric's look she giggled. "I KNOW so."
"That’s better."
Abby took a deep breath and Eric, sensing her apprehension, gave her hand a loving squeeze.
"You’re gonna do fine, sis."
"You know what?" he whispered as they took their first steps down the aisle.
"What?"
"I know so too."
At that point, Abby squeezed his hand back. "You’re the best."
"I know."
Abby looked around curiously at all the faces. For the most part, she knew everyone, but there was still a few people Carter’s mother has squeezed on the guest list. They made Abby nervous, but she bit her lip and smiled. She could do this...

... "I can do this..." Carter thought to himself, watching Abby walk down the aisle. She was so beautiful, it was a wonder to him that he could actually think at all. What a breathtaking sight. He was glad she had made him wait to see her in that wedding gown. He smiled and held out his hand to her as she approached him. She took his hand and stepped up the step to stand beside him.
Carter’s eyes were focused intently on Abby's. She stared into his, seemingly in a world of her own. A world of their own.
A voice drifted in. "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here today to witness the joining of two special people in holy matrimony ... " But his voice kept floating in and out. All Abby could think about was his deep brown eyes. The eyes left her and went to the minister. Abby pulled her eyes away from Carter to look at him as well. He looked to Carter and Abby for confirmation, blinking his eye in a quick wink. "We'll begin with the vows, which they have written themselves."
Carter looked back at her and grasped her hands. "Uh, to be honest, I was having a hard time writing vows. There’s so many things that I want to tell you, I could be here all day. But then I realized it doesn’t matter. Because we’ll have our entire lives to be able to express everything we feel to each other. This is only a part of it. I love you. Everything about you. Everything about us. How we could stay up all night just talking, How you understand me. How I understand you. I didn’t think I’d ever get the opportunity to get to know everything about one person-" He voice broke and Abby squeezed his hands tighter, blinking back tears. "I didn’t think I’d ever get the chance to be able to love someone so perfectly, so wholly, without any doubts. And that’s how I love you, Abby."
Abby let the tears flow freely down her face now, it seemed futile to try to hold them back. She could see him holding back his own tears.
"I promise myself I wouldn’t cry..." Abby started. "You started off as just a co-worker, then a friend, then my best friend. And falling in love with my best friend is the best feeling in the whole world. I can be unsure of us, and then all I have to do is look into your eyes and I’m completely sure that we’ll be okay. I’m never in doubt when I’m with you. Well, most of the time anyway." She cupped his in her hands. "You show me I don't have to be scared. Like I was, before. I can trust you, and I can believe in something I always thought was too good to be true. Thank you, so much."
Carter smiled at her through his teary eyes, and picked up Abby's hand, slipping the ring into her finger, and brought her hand up to his lips to kiss it.
Abby repeated the process, slipping the ring onto his finger.
Then, the minister spoke again, "You may kiss the bride..."
Carter took Abby in his arms and laid a soft kiss on her lips. Then he whispered into her ear. "We did it." Abby, lost for words, just smiled her response.
"May I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. John Carter."
There was a round of applause and they walked off together down the aisle, finally husband and wife.
