Abandoned, beached upon a distant shore Once apart of a great and wonderous whole Now, just a fragmented piece - battered and beaten Worn smooth by waves and wind
No longer a whole, but a fragment, lost Twisted, jagged edges exposed in the sand Essence long ago lost and stripped away The joys of living a distant memory
Where once the sun brought joy and life Now it only bleaches a lighter shade of gray Water that lended strength and beauty Now is washing all, ever so slowly, away
Till all that is left after time Is a small grain of what once was Swirled round and round by the wind Swept here and there by the sea
