THE TRIP HOME PHOTOS AND SOME BOARING STUFF

April 2001

We are probably stranded in the middle of nowhere and cant get near a computer to give you an update. Either that or we are having too good a time and we could not be arsed. Later!

26th April 2001 (Shane) Well I've just bailed on the lads for a few weeks. I managed to get myself a job as a safety! Kayaker for a Rafting company here in Nepal. Its a job I just could not refuse so I took it and I'm going to try to catch up with the lads in a few weeks. The jobs great. We go on multi-day rafting trips and all the food and tents etc. is brought along. Each night we pick a nice(nice they are f---'n amazing) beach to camp on. We(well I pretend to help) cook the food for all the customers.. Thwe food is really good and there is a great variety. I'm just back from a 4 day trip on the Seti(Thanks to Sophie,Lucy, Melanie and Adam for being such greatcustomers/victims). Tomorrow I'm off to the Kali Kandaki and I here the water is at a good! level. I suspect I will be having a "busy" day tomorrow and for the next few days.I got sucked into a big whirlpool yesterday which was a bit interesting! I suspect I will have quite a few interesting!Kayaking stories after the next few weeks. Right I'm off to pack all the rafting gear etc. for the trip. PS I have no idea where the lads are. Are yee out there? "Keep Paddling" "Even more of Everthing" Shane (Safety Kayaker)

20th April 2001 (Simon) Well the boys have made it back safely from Everest base camp... check out the emails from them below

------Shane------

Hows it going boss.

Hope things are well at that end. We(*myself and Kevin) are just back from Everest Base Camp and Kalapatar Peak (5550m). We were hiking for 3 weeks. Really great to see Everest and all those other mountains too. The views were really spectacular to say the least. It was really tough going but very enjoyable at the same time. Fordy got altitude sickness and had to head back before we got to base camp. Base camp was cool as was Kalapatar. Kevin and myself went different ways for a day or too as well. Kevin climbed a 5850m peak and fucked up his knees in the process. I got lost on my way toGokyo. Really lost!. I found my way back but being lost in the Himalayas is an interesting experience. I celebrated my birtday in Namche at 3800m. Its great, little cans of beer have the same effect as pints.

Well we are back in the real world and its Nepalese New Years Eve tonight so we are preparing to party. We have tracked down Fordy again so the team is back in action. I'm off now for a big Yak steak(mmmm). Shane T.

13 April 2001 A brief update(Shane) Hows it going. Hope things are well at that end. We are just back from Everest Base Camp and Kalapatar Peak (5550m).We were hiking for 3 weeks. Really great to see Everest and all those other mountains too. The views were really spectacular to say the least. It was really tough going but very enjoyable at the same time. Fordy got altitude sickness and had to head back before we got to base camp. Base camp was cool as was Kalapatar peak (Thanks to Team Canada. Without their help and their understanding of sarcasm we would probably have made it anyway!). Kevin and myself went different ways for a day or too as well. Kevin climbed a 5850m peak and fucked up his knees in the process. I got lost on my way to Gokyo. Really lost!. I found my way back but being lost in the Himalayas is an interesting experience. I celebrated my birtday in Namche at 3800m with that bunch of Canadian lunatics. Its great, little cans of beer have the same effect as pints. We ended up locked out of our hostel and had to get Kevin to scale the hostel wall and climb in the window. Well we are back in the real world (Katmandu) and its Nepalese New Years Eve tonight so we are preparing to party. We have tracked down Fordy again so the full team is back in action. I'm off now for a big Yak steak(mmmm). Next we go to chill out at the lake in Pokara and then on to Chitwan National Park to see some Rhinos and maybe some more Tigers. After that we head fore the Indian Himalayas. "This is not a dress rehersal", "One life..." Living the life, Lots of everything, The Lads
