THE TRIP HOME PHOTOS AND SOME BORING STUFF

JANUARY 2001

We are probably stranded in the middle of nowhere and can't get near a computer to give you an update. Either that or we are having too good a time and we could not be arsed. Later!

Yo Simon,
We have been sunbathing on the beach foer the last two days. We are in Goa in a place called Calungut. Class place. We have a little double room for 5 pounds a night(2.50 each). We were out on the rip last night till 5 oclock. We slept in till 3.00 tyhen got up and went straight to the beach. I had my first experience of Dehli belly this morning and Kevin is suffering a similar fate. Not too bad though although I hope its gone by tomorrow as we have another 16 hour bus journey back to Bombay to pick up the motorbikes. From there we plan to head striaght back here. The journey back out of Bombay wioth the motorbikes will be an epic to say the least. I'm a we bit worried about the whole experience. Well thats it for know.

Later, Shane t.

Hi Simon,
Just thought I'd mail you my version of what is going on out here. Just incase Shaner decided to make up some stories for the web site. It is class. Hard to describe really. Went on a bender last night got hammered and some how found our way back to our room in Calungate, Goa. It is the first time we ever found our way anywhere without walking around in circles for hours. No body here will tell you they don't know where a place is they will just send you off in what ever direction they feel like. It is a bit weird that way. That could send us 100s of miles out of our way if we are on the bikes.

Not had much trouble with the food here yet.

The bikes we are getting are real classics, we are picking them up on Tuesday hopefully. I just cannot wait to get them .

The accomadation and all that is very cheap. There are not a hell of a lot of women knocking around though. I am sure once get our sickles we will be able to check out alot more of the little villages along the and find out where all those english sluts are hanging out. I can wait till Thursday. Goa is 2 days ride from Mumbai.

I think from Goa we are going to go to Hampi about a 300km inland, and then from there head north to varnasai right up through the heart of the Indian Jungle. I cannot wait for that. That will probably take 2 weeks of riding on dirt tracks and gravel roads.

Well, I will be in touch.

----------Tues 30/01/2001(Simon)----------

Shane and Kevin left Ireland on Wednesday last, bound for Mumbai, India via Amsterdam. Just heard today that they have arrived safely. The boys are in Goa chilling at the moment, and are supposed to be picking motorcycles up today. The only earthquake they have come across have originated in their lower intestines.

----------Thurs 17/01/2001(Simon)----------

Well Shane has gone skiing, and I've taken over the website. The miserable bastards have gone on the trip of their life and given me the envious task of updating the website. Lush.

----------Fri 05/01/2001(Shane)----------

Brian failed his test and Kevin has passed. However I just got my international license using my car driving license and you actually cant tell if its for a car or a motorbike. That'll do me! I've only 5 days left in work.

----------Thur 04/01/2001(Shane)----------

Well the planning is going OK. Myself and Kevin are flying to Mumbai(Bombay) on the 24th Jan 2001 and Brian is following us on the 5th Feb. I had my test on Tuesday and managed to fail the stupid thing(dont ask). The other two lads have their test today so I really hope that they manage to pass. Now I have to go and try organise some sort of test when I get to India. I have absolutely no idea what that is going to involve. From what I have heard about India I will probably just have to give someone official! a few quid and they will sort it out for me. It should be interesting to see how I get around not having a license!!. I leave work on Friday 12th Jan and I'm off skiing for a week from the Sunday. Pretty class ehh! a weeks skiing back for two days and then off touring across Asia and Europe on a motorbike for at least 6 months("lifes good").
