Game 2 of 3: Twins 6 @ Indians 4 — FINAL

Game Time: 2:35 —Attendance: 18,699
WP: Gassner (1-0); LP: Millwood (0-2); SV: Nathan (4)

PROPS TO:

*Dave Gassner – Gets the win on his major league debut, going 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 K, 1 HR. After a Punto error (a pop up to deep second) he gave up a home run, and that was it, Gassner kept the Tribe to 3 hits and 2 ER. He far exceeded my expectations of what he would do today.

*Lew Ford – A three run home run in the 6th give the Twins a 3-2 lead.

*Torii Hunter – Another 3 run home run in the 8th to give the Twins a 6-2 game and help give the Twins some breathing room, he also doubled and singled.

*Juan Castro – Came up with a huge defensive play last night, they showed it in today’s game and it was one of the best plays I have seen at third, Gordo went crazy on the radio last night and there was good reason for it. Than today he comes up with a great diving stop to his left after a double to keep the runner at second base, that ball gets through and who knows what happens. Than in the 9th he comes up with a bare handed pick up and running throw to get the second out. He has been used as a defensive replacement and been extremely good at it.

*Ron Gardenhire – Knowing when to put Castro in and when to go get Mulholland for Nathan.

*Jose Hernandez – Got the Indians on the board with a two run home run taking advantage of the error by Punto.

*Ryan Ludwick – A two run home run in the 9th off Mulholland to put the Indians back into the game.

*Kevin Millwood innings 1 through 7 – Millwood pitched very good for the first five innings, getting a lot of ground ball outs and working quickly. After the three run home run to Ford he was still good enough to keep the Indians in striking distance.

*Terry Mulholland – Pitched 2 2/3 innings, 2 1/3 of the innings were scoreless and good relief work. He gave up a two run home run in the 9th, got another out and than handed it over to Nathan.

FLOPS TO:

*Kevin Millwood and Eric Wedge – I don’t like pitch count, but Millwood did go back out in the 8th after going over the 100 pitch mark, so I am fine with Millwood going back out in the 8th, but after the walk to Tiffee the manager needs to go get him, pull him in favor for the bullpen.

*Nick Punto – 0-3 with three strike outs and an error.
