Game 1 of 2: Twins 4 @ White Sox 5 FINAL

Game Time: 2:47 Attendance: 27,018
WP: Vizcaino (2-1); LP: Lohse (1-2); SV: Takatsu (4)

PROPS TO:

*Luis Vizcaino Pitched two innings giving up one hit, walking two and most importantly not giving up any runs.

*Carl Everett Went 2-4 with 3 RBI on two home runs, the second giving the White Sox the lead for good.

*Joe Crede Hit a two run home run to tie it up at three.

*Torii Hunter Did what he had to do on the bases, stealing second, moving up to third so he could score on the balk and had a few nice catches.

*Twins defense Some very good defensive plays by guys who dont always play in the spots they were in. No errors tonight, not letting the other team beat them with extra outs.

*Joe Mauer - First home run of the season to left field to try and get the Twins back into it making it 5-4. Also had a bunt single, doing his thing to get on base and use some of that power, too bad it didnt come with the bases loaded.

FLOPS TO:

*Twins offense Bases loaded with 1 out in the first and fifth and the Twins dont score either time, grounding into three double plays on the night killed rallies. The go ahead run came on a balk call and the other coming on an error and wild pitch. 10 Twins were left on base tonight, 4 runs on 9 hits means Twins were not able to get anyone in once they got on.

*Kyle Lohse Got a gift from the umps and let it go right away, guess he likes to be popular in Chicago. 6 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 3 ER. Home runs were what killed Lohse tonight, two of the three were two run shots and made up for all the scoring for the Sox.

*Jose Contreras He got out of the first inning without giving up any runs after loaded the bases, but it took him 30 pitches to do it. After the balk call he didnt throw strikes and couldnt focus on what he needed to do.

*The umps, Tim Welke (HP), Brian ONora (1B), and Bill Welke (3B) A lot of bad calls tonight, Tim Welke started out with a wide strike zone and it looked to get narrow near the end of the game. Bill Welke called the balk on Contreras allowing a go ahead run to score, I saw nothing to indicate the balk. Brian ONora called Hunter safe at first on a pick off play that was very, very, very close, I really think he was out on the play, he hand was not on the bag with the call. And what is with there being two guys by the name Welke?

*Torii Hunter and Mathew LeCroy Both walked and both went 0-4, cant do that when you are in the 4th and 5th spots.
