Game 2 of 3: Twins 9 vs. Royals 4 FINAL
Game Time: 2:37 Attendance: 10,393
WP: Mays (1-0); LP: Anderson (1-2)
PROPS TO:
* Joe Mays - Gets his first win since June 19, 2003. Pitched pretty well, considering he had 9 days rest in between starts, thanks to the nasty weather in Detroit. He would go 6 innings, giving up 8 hits, 4 runs (all earned), 2 BB, 1 SO.
* Twins bullpen - Threw up zeroes in the final 3 innings, with Crain, Romero, and Mulholland each pitching an inning in relief of Mays. The bullpen didnt give up a hit!
* Twins offense - Throughout the game, they put up runs. They got 9 hits, coupled with 4 walks, and only stranded 5 guys on base. Now thats better!!!
* Jason Bartlett - Big day for him, as his triple in the 7th inning plated 2. He was 2-5 with 3 RBI.
* Nick Punto - Other offensive star for the Twins, as he got 3 hits, scored twice and collecting an RBI.
* Ruben Gotay - His 6th inning 2-run homer tied the game, 4-4. Also contributed with 2 hits.
* David DeJesus - Also had a multi-hit game for the Royals, going 2-4 with a walk.
* Jaime Cerda & Kyle Snyder - Each pitching an inning in relief for the Royals, giving up no hits, and no runs.
FLOPS TO:
* Mauer, Morneau, Hunter - Our 3-5 guys in the lineup went 0-12 in the game.
* Brian Anderson - Not a good outing for him, despite starting out good. Hed go 6 innings, giving up 6 hits, 6 earned runs, but he struck out 6. Lots of sixes up there on his line, but lots any Royals fan doesnt want to see.
* Shawn Camp - In the 7th with the score 4-4, his wild pitch allowed the go-ahead run to score, and then Bartlett unloaded with a 2-run triple, and quickly, the Twins had a 3-run lead at 7-4. Camps ERA shot up to 12.15.
* Mike MacDougal - Showed us why he lost his closer job. He was a little erratic, giving up a walk and two hits, and another Twins run scored on him.
