Time: ? No official
information can be found
on Ed Hickox, as he is a
Minor League Umpire
that worked the 2005 Major
League Spring Training
and can be called up at
any time if needed. It is
possible that Ed Hickox
will work most of the
2005 season at the Major
League level.

Ed Hickox is the Camp Director/Chief Instructor, 1983 Graduate of the Harry Wendelstedt School for Umpires. Ed worked for two years of Winter Baseball in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Ed Hickox

April 14, 2005 — Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN. Ed Hickox started out with a very tight strike zone with Radke on the mound, forcing a walk and than two runs to score.

Nate Robertson of the Tigers hit two Twin batters, both non intentional. In the 5th inning with a runner on Radke hits a batter and both sides get warned. Ron Gardenhire doesn't agree and gets ejected.

Later in the bottom of the 6th inning with runners on first and second and Torii Hunter at the plate and runners in motion Hunter is called out on strikes. When Rodriguez goes to throw out Rivas stealing third he bumps into Hickox, who calls interference and the runners have to go back.

Any one of these things is not enough to get put on the Umpire Blacklist, but combine them to make just bad umpiring that can lead to a team losing the game because of it.
