My thoughts on The Amazing Race 6 |
Here I will give my thoughts for each leg of the race, I will put where I think or would like each team to finish inside ( ) so an example if I would like to see Adam/Rebecca in third place but they were in first it will look like this: 1. Adam/Rebecca (3). This will be a continuous page, so it will get long! The Amazing Race 6 CHICAGO, ILLINOIS How ironic is it that it comes down to cabs and a train! 1. Freddy/Kendra (2) - WINNERS of THE AMAZING RACE 6! Taking United is what did it for them, put them in first place and enough of a lead to be the winners of the race. It also helps that Kris and Jon were tied up by a train, but nothing to take away from Freddy and Kendra. The things that Freddy and Kendra do have in common are that they both teams work together as a teams and that is what helped them compete for first place. 2. Kris/Jon (1) - For the second time in a row the ones I have picked to win The Amazing Race have come in second. Bad news for who I predict to come in first. I don’t exactly know how close it was in Chicago. If they were on the same train than the cabs did have a lot to do with the finish in the race. 3. Adam/Rebecca (3) - They started off far behind the other two teams and there wasn't an equalizer like there have been on so many legs of the race. I am surprised they were able to get as far as they did with not getting along. *********************************************************************** The cabs have been horrible in China, and I think can be to blame for Hayden and Aarons place where they finish. Painting the cars was the obvious, fast choice in the Detour and all teams took it. 1. Kris/Jon (1) - They have continued to have bad luck in cabs, but the keys seems to be where the finish was decided. Kris got lucky with finding the key when she did. Getting there was key also. 2. Freddy/Kendra (2) - They were second to depart for the paining of the cars and first to get to the keys because of a wrong turn by Kris and Jon and Adam and Rebecca. But didn't have quite as good of luck as Kris did with the key. 3. Adam/Rebecca (4) - They were first out of the painting place but waiting in the cab for whatever reason took them out of first place. But the keys took a long time for them, finding it made the difference for why they are here and not Hayden and Aaron. If they cant get it in the next 30 minutes than they are eliminated. 4. Hayden/Aaron (3) - Wow! That was pretty cool, Aaron proposing to Hayden after being eliminated. They were totally screwed over by the cab driver who didn't know where he was going. Who knows where they are if they don't switch or wouldn't have had to switch. I don’t think they ended up paying the cab driver either. Lori/Bolo *********************************************************************** The final non-elimination leg of the race. It appeared that all the teams had trouble getting a cab at first. I think it was Freddy that said it was because of rush hour, I suppose it could be that they have somewhere to go where they can get more money than they usually can picking people up there. Next week is a 2 hour finale, a group will be eliminated after the first hour and than the final three will continue to the finish line. 1. Hayden/Aaron (3) - Hayden continues to complain whenever she can, made the bricks a lot more difficult than they really were. Even with her complaining they did pretty well this leg, they are working together more, or maybe Aaron has figured out how to deal with Hayden. 2. Freddy/Kendra (2) - Payback! I think that was the right move to make, I would have done the same. I think strategically it would have been a better idea to yield Kris and Jon, but it wouldn't have been as sweet for them. Adam and Rebecca had no reason to yield them. Kendra did a nice job at the window washing considering she was afraid of heights. 3. Kris/Jon (1) - I think this is the first time we have really seen them get upset over anything. Bad luck with cabs is a good reason to get upset, it nearly put them in last place. 4. Adam/Rebecca (4) - They were anticipating the yield, I wonder if they regret trying to help Jonathan and Victoria? Lori/Bolo *********************************************************************** It was kind of amazing to see Sir Lanka a few months before the tsunami hit, seeing people going about business as they were December 26. I think we will see the final non-elimination leg next week. 1. Kris/Jon (1) - That first charter flight really helped, although it didn't matter since the art place had a time that made everyone wait. They than got ahead I think by picking the right tuck tuck, something completely random that decided where people might place. 2. Hayden/Aaron (4) -With Hayden being afraid of heights I am not sure why she chose to do the climbing the tree. And the whining, it doesn't stop! Second, third and fourth place are all very close, so that should be interesting come next week. 3. Freddy/Kendra (2) - No fun being sick, but she faired pretty well. And I think the tree climbing would be the fast way to go but the elephant looked like fun! With Freddy not having that ticket to go to the top it is interesting they came in third. 4. Adam/Rebecca (5) - Adam was ready to give up, he wanted to go home. He hasn't learned yet that there is always an equalizer in the race, and to never give up! They did luck out with stopping for gas and not to come in last.
5. Lori/Bolo (3) - I think Lori missing not having the ticket was the main reason they came in last. If that doesn't happen slow Adam would have been in last place. I didn't like them at the start, but after a few weeks I started to like them more, too bad they had to go now, would have been neat to see them in the final. Jonathan/Victoria *********************************************************************** Phil said there is another non-elimination leg left, and I see where I made my error, in that week that was continued I counted as a non-elimination leg. So there is one more, my guess is next week. Ethiopia seems to have some of the nicest, most welcoming people. If only the rest of the world could take after Ethiopia it would be a better place. For the second time in Race history a Yield was used, and this time it didn't make any difference. And hallelujah, Jonathan is gone! 1. Hayden/Aaron (4) - I am not sure how they got from last to first place. For one they stopped the bickering at each other. I think they got on the first charter flight too. They also did the roofing of a house and not the mudding of the house. It sounds like they got a little bit of money on the fairy. Is that all they got? Will they get more next leg? All questions I think that are important to how long they will be around. 2. Lori/Bolo (3) - I think the mudding of the house slowed them down. They might have been able to be in first if they had done the roofing one instead. They did cut in front of Freddy and Kendra to get the tickets. At the same time they should have bought the tickets when they first got there and there. There were also more than one flight options. 3. Kris/Jon (1) - When they are slighting behind going to a travel agency seems to be a good idea, it has helped more than hurt them. They got on that second charter flight which is what really hurt them. They took the faster roofing option of the detour. I found it interesting that other teams teamed up to get them on the second charter because they think they are the stronger team. 4. Freddy/Kendra (2) - Wow, that finger looked bad that Freddy cut in the mud. Not sure if the extras online will show anything more about that, but we didn't see him get any First Aid at all. Didn’t look good. After getting in later than all the other groups and than having the Yield it is kind of amazing they are not last. I wonder how long in minutes the hour glass takes, it is not a short ordeal. 5. Adam/Rebecca (5) - “We are over when we are done with this.” At least one group gets it right. Rebecca tells Adam they are done at the airport. Cant say we didn't see that one coming, just question now why they were together to begin with. Anyway, they try to help Jonathan and Victoria for whatever crazy reason by Yielding Freddy and Kendra. It turns out to do no good since Adam couldn't find water if he fell out of a boat, walking all around the church looking for the clue outside of where he should be. Rebecca summed it up nicely by saying you cant send a women to do a mans job. 6. Jonathan/Victoria (6) - About time! The cut was to Victoria’s finger, not ankle as the preview indicated. Anyway, same thing that Freddy did to his finger. Didn’t see hers but it didn't look nearly as bad. But no matter what, Victoria made such a big fuss about it you would think Jon would check it out, see what is going on. But no, who cares about her. Than when they only get one donkey, I noticed it as they were walking up the hill, and wondered what would happen. The Yield gave them some time, but not enough especially when they are on a Sunday stroll to get back to get their donkey. Thank goodness they are gone! Gus/Hera *********************************************************************** The second of two Fast Forward was used tonight and I think we have had our last non-elimination leg. 1. Adam/Rebecca (5) - It was hilarious watching Adam float around in his diving suit. I was sure they were not going to be able to get the clue, he wouldn't do it. But surprisingly enough he did what he needed to do and they got the clue. Don’t worry though, they don't have that much of a lead, The Amazing Race will level the field in the next leg like it has all along. Gus/Hera *********************************************************************** BUDAPEST, HUNGRY The first of two Fast Forwards, and it is used this time. For one of very few times Phil used the words "may be eliminated" and someone was eliminated. 1. Lori/Bolo (3) - A good thing they didn't give up and assume the race was over for them. Checking to find that 2:55 AM train saved them, and than completing the Fast Forward as quickly as they did helped them into first place (we have seen them go do the Fast Forward and not do it). Now it is a matter of how they can do after this, stay in first or sink. 2. Kris/Jon (1) - The water polo proved to be easy for all groups, so it was a pretty good choice. Jon didn't have that much trouble with the hot soup either, they were the first to finish that road block. 3. Jonathan/Victoria (7) - When Freddy was going nuts about the gate being closed on him and hitting him why was it that Mr. Sensitive, everyone's friend, Jonathan goes and tries to settle him down? Out of all people. Than he finds it necessary to get on her case after making her do the road block? He seems to make her do all the hard challenges, get on her for doing them and than apologize after. 4. Hayden/Aaron (2) - He had a difficult time with the soup, they sat there a long time to complete it. 5. Adam/Rebecca (6) - Rebecca had some business to take care of with the soup, good thing she didn't let Adam do that one. They continue to do a lot of arguing, and Adam seems more like a little kid than anything. 6. Freddy/Kendra (5) - Freddy got a little out of control with that gate. I think it just came back down after being thrown up, no one person closed it or shut it. I can see where he would get upset over it closing and hitting him, but threatening other groups is a little much. 7. Gus/Hera (4) - Too bad they had to go, they were one of the best teams on the race that worked as a team and that would split up so each one would do the best thing for them. Don/Mary Jean ***************************************************************** To be continued! An Amazing Race first! All teams except Adam and Rebecca and Lori and Bolo are waiting for the club to open. 1. Freddy/Kendra (3) - They were on the first train and appeared to be ahead of all. But the race never hesitates to bring everyone back to that level playing field. They seem to be on a surge right now. 1. Hayden/Aaron (2) - I think it is Aaron who is going to be pushed a little far by Hayden and how she gets, a little paranoid? 1. Gus/Hera (5) - I am liking them more and more every week, they work as a team and get done what they need. They are enjoying the race!
Don/Mary Jean
We know know there are three non-elimination legs. Since all teams contributed I will mention it here, thought it was nice that all the teams contributed to Don and Mary Jean since they couldn't ask the locals for money. It was nice to see the other teams help out. 1. Freddy/Kendra (3) - It was all how they got out of the airport, they left first and didn't make any mistakes. Taking a cab I think was the thing to do, it was a reason why they were in first. 3. Hayden/Aaron (2) - I think they also took a cab from the airport and didnt make any mistakes, found everything pretty easily 5. Gus/Hera (5) - They are a good team, I think surprising a lot of people. They both have strengths and they complement each other. I still think they will gain the most from this race. 8. Don/Mary Jean (4) - Too bad they couldn't move up. Finding that clue at the church kind of took it out of them. They are the oldest couple to make it this far, so congrats to them for that, nice job! ***************************************************************** The first non-elimination leg, Phil said of many, so more than there has been? Should make it more interesting. 1. Kris/Jon (1) - They made a big mistake by not getting to the first location when they opened. They never did go and see what time it opened, instead they took the word for what people were saying and at one time they were in 7th place. I did notice they didn't let this get to them, just kept at what they had to do and ended up ahead of where they were last week. ***************************************************************** I have picked a favorite, not much to base it on. I would have liked to be on this race a lot, going to Sweden!! IKEA! Been there don that, well not the one on Sweden, but it looks the same! Build it or count it? With 2304 items to count it is easy to chose the build. The first Yield of the race showed up but no one used it. Roadblock of Hay Bale Roll, one person had to unroll a bale of hay until the clue is reveled. 1. Hayden/Aaron (2) - They were right there with Kris and Jon, for whatever reason they let them get onto the mat first and take first place. I am not sure if it was Aaron or Freddy that told Jonathan to shut up at IKEA, if it was Aaron, way to go! ************************************************************************* Still no clear favorites yet. There is one thing for sure about The Amazing Race, you can mess up early in the leg and still not be eliminated with all the places that make the playing field level all the time. The trick is to not be behind late in a leg when you are close to check in time! 2. Jonathan/Victoria (10) - Jonathan is now making other teams feel bad and cry, that is just not ok. He needs to be taken out of this race, I am not sure what Victoria is doing with him. He is truly in love with himself. 4. Hayden/Aaron (4) - Don't know much about them yet except that Aaron almost broke his wrist a few times on the roller activity. 5. Lori/Bolo (8) - Not as bad this week, don't mind them if the keep this up, they didn't yell at each other nearly as much. Still don't care for them much though. 6. Adam/Rebecca (9) - Adam is just about as bad as Jonathan is, I am not sure if Jonathan is Adams mentor or what. He seems to like to put down Rebecca, and I thought she was doing the right thing by telling him they were finished. Than she goes back to him when he is so very sorry. 7. Don/Mary Jean (5) - Stealing cars! They are making little mistakes that might cost them the race. They have said them selves that they need to be smarter than everyone else, they need to actually do that now. 8. Freddy/Kendra (3) - I thought when they went back to get that second clue that it could hurt them, and it did, two places and 30 minutes. It might be enough to get them into gear and try to work their way up. ***************************************************************** I don't have much of an opinion on the teams yet, I have not seen enough of them to have one. The detour was "Ice Climb" or "Ice Search" and it was pretty cool that they made a stop in Minneapolis, although we didn't see any of it. |
More on Jonathan , he tries to explain what happened, he didn't know he was like he was. Check it out here. |
