Spring Training Game 1: Twins 3 at Red Sox 4FINAL

Props to:

* Kyle Lohse - I thought he looked decent, despite giving up the tying run in the 1st inning after the Twins' offense gave him an early 1-0 lead. It's really hard to evaluate a pitcher when he only goes two innings.

* Jay Payton - Got the offense started for the Sox with a leadoff double in the bottom of the 1st. Later scored on a sac fly by Varitek.

* Dave Gassner - A nice inning from the PTBNL that came over in the Shannon Stewart trade.

* Shawn Wooten - Smacked a line-drive homer in the bottom of the 8th to stretch the Sox lead to 3-1.

* Kevin Youkalis - Singled off Durbin with the bases loaded to put the Red Sox in the lead, 2-1, which they never relinquished.

Flops to:

* Matt Clement - Erratic in the 1st inning, going deep into counts and giving up a run due to a wild pitch.

* J.D. Durbin - Was the losing pitcher. He had a troublesome 4th inning, loading the bases on a hit and two walks, and later giving up a bases-loaded single to Kevin Youkalis.

* Twins offense - Shut out in innings 2-8. Came back in the 9th with two, but it was "two" little, too late.

* Luis Maza - Errant throw on a potential DP ball kept the Twins on the field, and the Sox would later score a run to make it a 4-1 game at the time.
