Bradley Lake

Bradley Lake was the first hike that we took in the Tetons.

It was a shorter hike over a glacial moraine (a small ridge left from the glaciers, lots of rocks).  The area had been burned about 10 years ago so we had many views of the mountains.  A side trail took us to Taggert Lake, about a mile away.  I huffed and puffed a bit since I wasn't used to the altitude yet.  We packed a nice picnic lunch but left it in the car.  Of course the Grandparents remembered theirs;  youth was not served in this case!

After my last experience hiking in the Rockies I was astounded at the close up views of the high peaks that were so close to the road.

Cascade Canyon

Cascade Canyon is probably the most popular destination in the park.  The easy and scenic way to reach it is by taking a small boat from south Jenny Lake ($5 for adults, $3 for youth).  You can also take the 2 mile hiking trail.

A short hike from the boat dock brings you to Hidden Falls and a nice grove of old growth trees.  We were also able to watch a climbing class in action on the nearby cliff.  That got Matt's juices flowing as he'd like to do rock climbing some day.

This picture was taken from the hike to Inspiration Point.  Elbowing your way through the crowd on the trail, you make your way to a beautiful view of Jenny Lake and the Teton's (see above photo).  Inspiration Point was about a 500 foot vertical rise.
