Song of the Ages (cont.)

The world spun,

            Spun so fast,

                        But time passes so slow.

Through the lush gardens,

            At Avalon,

We ruled.

You were the Horned One

            Crowned regally

                        So fair.

Your feet were split hooves again;

Your horns were of a commoner kind,

Lord of forest and fen.

Strength to the weak you did bring

And all challengers you overthrew.

Through the lush gardens,

But the young Celtic king with the Latin name

Challenged you on your turf,

And overthrew your animal rule.

He took your hide, and stole your crown,

And civilized you kingdom.

Knights ride their horses where your fawns were raised.

I mourned you, my love.

But the overthrew my rule as well,

And hung a god upon my cross.

I faded into eternity,

And my familiars were hunted to agonizing death.

I was once Life,

But now a dead God rules
