Song of the Ages (cont.)

The world spun,

            Spun so fast,

                        But time passes so slow.

Through the lush gardens,

            Through Camelot,

We loved.

You were the sorcerer,

Necromancer,

The dark childe.

You were the seducer, ruling in fear

With strength unnatural, sweet charm

And passion- flames that leapt to sear.

Your dark hand,     terribly cruel

Touched me, and I wept one tear;

Your shadow covered all the land.

Your eternal winter, and my frosted heart.

Through the lush gardens,

            Through Babylon,

We loved.

I was untouched,

            By fear

                        So pure.

My knight, my betrothed, he rode away

To seek honor, fortune, and glory,

But I never saw him again after that day.

I wept,     and you saw your chance,

And seduced me even as I knelt to pray.

At midnight thereafter I never slept,

But I lay awake in your dark embrace

We loved forever, my love.

But the king hated you for the power you had,

And the eons of knowledge you possessed.

You hated him with an equal rage,

So you carried him poison in a cup of wine

And his hired knife buried a dagger in you back.

You watched each other die.

I mourned you, my love.

But I had no sooner dried my tears

And I was accused by an angry mob

Of plotting with you your regicide

I pleaded and begged all the way to the stake,

But I was judged guilty and the fires lit.

The smoke carried my soul to the heavens.
