Dance of Unicorn

Myths state that when Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden, the unicorn chose to leave paradise and travel with mankind, and take on the trials and travails of humanity.

falling

spiraling

a lovely fluid ribbon-twist

of flashing muscle

bone

and fur

(the decent into hell is always too easy)

wind whistling

stars streaming by

nothing but the vertigo of the plunge

angels are screaming

harpies shriek curses

God Himself turns an Eye away

(dream-dancer, doth thou love thy suffering so much

that thou wouldst accept it—nay, welcome it—

willingly and with such joy?)

serpent strangling

demon deceiving

cold coils clutching warm flesh

apple-hanging temptation

knowledge, immortality

death and pain are not punishment enough

(i would stamp thy life from thee,

if thou wert only beneath my hooves…

however, I gladly take the sting and bite thou offereth to drain thy poison

and join thee upon this journey into the deepest abyss

hell is already full of perfection fallen from grace

i belong there)

tempest-tossed head

proud and decorated with eagle feathers

wild eyes with hunger

eager to hit bottom

elegant arch

lithe, lissome lotus flower

(float… dream…

I am never going to die)
