Kreiling Family


Generation 1

Bernhard Kreiling (Reference # 108) was born in Germany. It is unknown when he immigrated to the United States. He died at Topeka or Easton, Forest City Twp., Mason Co., IL. His wife was also born in Germany but further information is not known. They had at least one child:

Generation 2

John F. Kreiling (Reference # 54) was born 25 December 1858 at Topeka or Easton, Forest City Twp., Mason Co., IL and died 5 January 1935 at Topeka or Easton, Forest City Twp., Mason Co., IL. He was born and died on the same farm where he had lived his entire life and he was a farmer by occupation. He married Lena Thies (Reference # 55) c1883 in Illinois. She was born 30 October 1864 in Germany and died 7 December 1950. She immigrated to the United States c1879-1880 and lived and worked as a maid in New York City for a time. Her employer taught her English on Sundays but she never learned to read or write in English and used a German Bible throughout her life. My father has the Bible and I have a quilt pieced by her in the 1930s and quilted by my grandmother in the 1980s. They had the following children:

Margaret Maria Kreiling (Reference # 27) was born 29 June 1888 at Topeka, Mason Co., IL and died 14 September 1957 at Denver, Denver Co., CO. She married Harry Thurston Lowers (Reference # 26) on 4 February 1908 at Topeka or Easton, Mason Co., IL. They were married either in a Lutheran Church or at home. Harry Thurston Lowers was born 5 November 1885 at Ottawa, LaSalle Co., IL and died 25 February 1967 at Fort Morgan, Morgan Co., CO. For further information see the Lowers Family.
