Generation 1

William Clayton (Reference # 960), son of William Clayton and Elizabeth Bezer, was born 8 March 1686 and died about December 1757. For further information on his ancestry see Cheska's Genealogy Page. He married Mary Martin (Reference # 961) about 1709. They had the following children:

Generation 2

David C. Clayton (Reference # 480) was born in 1728 at Chester Co., PA and died c1804 when his will was probated at Monmouth Co., NJ. He was disowned by the Quakers first 6 August 1753 for marriage contrary to discipline and again 7 July 1763 at Concord MM, PA. He married Sarah Carter (Reference # 481) 21 February 1753 at Philadelphia, PA. She was born about 1732 at Philadelphia, PA. They had the following children (all 5 sons served in the Revolutionary War):

Generation 3

Elisha Clayton (Reference # 240) and his twin brother Elijah Clayton were born 1 December 1757 at Monmouth Co., NJ and Elisha died 31 March 1845. He served more than 3 years of active service in the American Revolutionary War between 1776 and 1781. He married first to Elizabeth King in Delaware. She was born 1760 and died 1792. He married second to Elizabeth Little (Reference # 241) 15 October 1793 at VA (now WV). She was born 1775 in Maryland and died 1861.

Little Clayton (Reference # 120) was born 6 September 1806 in Virginia and died 13 March 1895. He was a farmer. He married Rachel Parker (Reference # 131) 2 October 1828. She was born 24 July 1808 in Virginia and died 27 March 1861. They had the following children:

Richard Harrison Clayton (Reference # 60) was born 14 October 1832 on a farm about 7 miles from Fairmont, Monongalia Co., VA (now Marion Co., WV) on Little Paw Paw and Big Paw Paw Creeks and died 17 October 1904 at Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. He moved to Kansas in 1864 and returned to WV in 1866 for his bride. He married Anna Judson Merrill (Reference # 61) 11 April 1867 at Marion Co., WV. She was born 6 June 1845 at Rivesville, Marion Co., VA (now WV) and died 25 April 1909 at Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. For her ancestry see Cheska's Genealogy Page. They had the following children:

Rolla Brooks Clayton (Reference # 30) was born 16 March 1870 at Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS and died 26 June 1926 at Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. He is buried at Mapleton, Bourbon Co., KS. He married Lula Bell Worden (Reference # 31) 12 October 1907 at Keller, Ferry Co., WA. She was born 5 June 1889 at Gettysburg, Potter Co., SD and died 11 January 1984 at Reedsport, Douglas Co., OR. She is buried at Reedsport, OR. For information on her ancestry see the Worden Family. They may have divorced or separated, in any case Rolla Clayton suffered several strokes which left him partially paralyzed and returned to Kansas to live with his sister Avalene while his family remained in Oregon. They had the following children:

  4. Bert Wilson Clayton

Generation 7

Ava Jane Clayton (Reference # 15) married Carl Louis Scherpf (Reference # 14). He was born 18 December 1906 at Washougal, Clark Co., WA and died 11 June 1975 at St. Helens, Columbia Co., OR. For information on his ancestry see the Scherpf Family. They had the following children:
